Pre-Therapy Breakdown Routine

He didn’t lose a toy.
He didn’t hate therapy.

He just wasn’t first.
Cue emotional breakdown boss level unlocked at TheraPath Therapy Center.

Autism logic.
Daily edition. 😌

Before anyone asks—
Yes, he completed the task.
Yes, he destroyed the room right after.
And yes… it still counts as progress. 😌
Regulation is a whole separate side quest. 💙

We took a quick trip to Kalinto Resort - Botolan, Zambales—hoping to de-stress.
But the truth is, you can never really do that when you’re parenting two kids with autism.

We booked a Sunday, knowing fewer people usually come.
We carefully chose a place we thought would be quiet, familiar, and safe.
We planned everything… and still, it was the same.

We barely slept.
Zick cried through the night, wanting to go back to the pool—even when it was already closed.
We knew his cries echoed down the hall, and that constant worry of disturbing others while trying to regulate your child is a weight only special-needs parents truly understand.

Meltdowns. Sensory overload. Constant vigilance.
By the end of the day, we were exhausted in ways sleep can’t fix.

And to the staff—thank you, truly.
Thank you for your patience, your kindness, and your understanding, especially toward Kuya Zack and Zick.
Zack has been showing challenging behaviors since the day we arrived, and Zick was struggling hard that night—but you never made us feel judged or unwelcome.
You met us with calm, grace, and compassion—and that meant more than you’ll ever know.

Still—we showed up.
Still—we made memories.

They may not remember this trip.
They may not remember the effort, the planning, the patience it took.

But we will.
And someday, that will be enough. 🤍

To the family at the pool yesterday,

I want to sincerely apologize for the incident with Kuya Zack. I know it disrupted your day, and I completely understand why you were frustrated.

Zack has autism, and yesterday was one of those really difficult days for him. We tried to stop him, but despite our efforts, it happened. I noticed you were already upset, so I chose not to say anything in the moment because I didn’t want to add to the tension. I was also overwhelmed and honestly close to tears myself.

Parenting kids with autism comes with unpredictable moments, and sometimes, no matter how careful we are, things happen that we can’t fully control. We truly never intended to ruin anyone’s experience, and we hope you can understand the challenge we face as parents.

Thank you for your patience and understanding. 🤍

“They look like normal brat kids.”

As a mom of two children with autism, that sentence cuts deeper than people realize.

You see a moment.
We live the whole day—and night.

You see behavior.
We see sensory overload, communication struggles, and two children doing their best in a world that often overwhelms them.

You don’t see the therapy appointments, the routines, the constant planning, or the tears I hold back just to get through a simple errand.

My children are not brats.
They are autistic.
They are kind, intelligent, and trying—every single day.

Before judging a child or a parent, please pause.
Empathy costs nothing, but it can mean everything to a family like ours.
