OUR NEW FIRE CHIEF | The Bureau of Fire Protection welcomes the official announcement of Fire Director Jesus Piedad Fernandez, CESE, as its Chief by the DILG effective April 11, 2025.
Director Fernandez is a seasoned firefighter hailing from PNPA “Sandigan” Class of 1994. He has handled various operations offices in Region 2 and the National Capital Region and has been City Fire Marshal of Tuguegarao and District Fire Marshal of Quezon City.
He was eventually assigned to the National Headquarters as Director for Logistics in 2016, and assumed as Director for Comptrollership after a year.
Prior to his appointment as Chief Directorial Staff in 2020, he served as the R4A Regional Director for two years. He became the Acting Deputy Chief for Administration in 2022 and was designated as OIC, BFP in lieu of the compulsory retirement of former BFP Chief Louie S Puracan in November 2024.
Now assuming command of the 38,000-strong Philippine fire service, his thrusts from standardization to modernization are anticipated to take center stage in his term.
