Deaf awareness and Filipino Sign Language (FSL) advocacy took center stage through drag artistry at the 2026 Metro Manila Pride.

Drag artist Panthera Arma delivered this message during a “drag in sign language” performance of Nica del Rosario’s “Tahanan” at Remedios Circle in Manila, using FSL to interpret the song onstage.

The performance, which underscored inclusivity within the Pride celebration, was supported by fellow drag artists Anita Good Lovin’ and Flora Saint Light.

Panthera Arma has consistently integrated deaf awareness and FSL advocacy into her drag, using her platform to bridge performance art and the deaf and hard-of-hearing community.

She identifies as the only drag artist in the country so far to perform using sign language, with her stage name “Arma” referencing her connection to armadillos, which are nearly blind and deaf. Beyond live performances, Panthera produces sign language covers of trending songs and shares basic FSL lessons with her audience.

By interpreting music through sign language, Panthera aims to make Pride more accessible, highlighting the importance of PWD (persons with disabilities) advocacy within q***r spaces.
