Showing my custom 6 prong setting
I've been married for over a year now, but Reddit was showing me this subreddit and I thought I'd share my ring to maybe help others decide! It's very unique to me but there's a few practical things to mention.
The main thing is that with such a prominent stone, it does and will catch on things! But it also lets the most amount of sparkle and light in. Having a bezel would be the safest for your stone and lower profile but lets less light in. Having 6 prongs will keep the stone safe. I did end up bending a prong, and was able to have it fixed without the stone coming loose at all. This is a custom ring with a unique stone hand picked by , a checker faceted pear cut green sapphire, 2.85 carats, her name is Venus. 7.5 x 12mm, I was looking for a larger stone because I have larger hands. I've included a picture of the stone against a smaller hand.
The wedding band was my mom's and fits perfectly with my ring! You can't really see but it has white gold along the diamonds and the rest of the band is gold.
I've included a shot of my other wedding band, without stones which I like to wear for camping and hiking!
You can also see the silk threads on Venus under the microscope, and a tiny pink spot 💓
I worked with a designer after my hubby proposed to figure out exactly what I wanted within my budget :) especially being in Canada, it was harder to find a jeweler I wanted to work with, as American ones were not in my budget!
