𝐅𝐫𝐨𝐦 𝐂𝐚𝐦𝐩𝐮𝐬 𝐭𝐨 𝐂𝐢𝐭𝐲 | TWG Takes Home 1st Runner-Up in the Pasko Balanghay Short Film Competition

December 12, 2025 marks a proud milestone for The Watchguild as we officially joined the PASKO Balanghay Short Film Contest, organized by the City Government of Butuan, and emerged as the 1st Place Winner out of 17 competing entries.

Our winning entry, “DAMGO,” written and directed by Mane Talibong, Editor-in-Chief of The Watchguild, tells a heartfelt story that resonated deeply with the judges and audience alike.

Adding to this victory, Trisha Marie Chavez was awarded BEST ACTRESS for her powerful portrayal of the elder sister, Elaine. She was joined by Cary Cris Luna as the younger sister and Zae Caballes as the mother, completing a cast that brought the story to life with authenticity and emotion.

This achievement did not come easy. With a hectic deadline and production completed just one day before submission, the journey tested our limits—but every challenge was worth it. Indeed, all glory and honor belong to God.

We extend our deepest gratitude to our EVP, Maria Cecilia Zerrudo Matillano, for her unwavering support; to our ever-supportive TWG Adviser, Ma’am Josephine Acha, for her all-out guidance; and to Ma’am Mae Ann Renacia, our TWG Coordinator, for her constant encouragement.

Gender-Responsive Drug Prevention and Awareness Summit

Grateful for the privilege of Dr. Josephine U. Acha, Frellen Restua, and Mae Ann Renacia to attend the Gender-Responsive Drug Prevention and Awareness Summit today. For them, it was a truly eye-opening experience deepening their understanding of gender-responsive approaches, student-centered interventions, and the vital roles of CHED, PDEA, and educational institutions in strengthening the Philippine Anti-Illegal Drugs Strategy (PADS).

They are thankful for the insights gained, the meaningful discussions, and the reminder that building safe, inclusive, and drug-free learning spaces begins with awareness, collaboration, and compassion. They remain proud to be part of an advocacy that places both gender sensitivity and student welfare at the heart of prevention.

Honored to stand together as colleagues who share the same passion for a healthier, safer, and more empowered academic community.

𝐈𝐍 𝐏𝐇𝐎𝐓𝐎𝐒 | Scenes from the Lights UP 2025 Celebration

Lights UP 2025 brought warmth and excitement to the PECIT campus as students, faculty, and staff gathered to witness the much-awaited annual lighting ceremony. The event opened with a dynamic performance salvo by Sayawang Teatro, setting an energetic tone for the evening.

EVP Ma’am Maria Cecilia Z. Matillano delivered a heartfelt Christmas message, leaving the community with a resonant reminder from John 1:5, emphasizing light and hope as the season begins.

The atmosphere grew even brighter as the campus lights were officially switched on, followed by interactive games that added to the night’s fun. The highlight of the celebration included the Parol Making and Belen Making contests, showcasing the creativity of each department.

In the Parol Making Contest, the College of Tourism and Hospitality Management (CTHM) secured first place with an entry praised for its design and attention to detail. Basic Education followed in second place, while the Bachelor of Science in Criminology (BSCrim) claimed third place. Consolation awards were given to BSIS, CTE, and CBA for their noteworthy contributions.

For the Belen Making Contest, BSCrim emerged as the first-place winner, presenting a display that stood out for its craftsmanship and thematic presentation. Basic Education earned second place, and CTHM finished in third. Consolation awards were also presented to BSIS, CTE, and CBA.

Lights UP 2025 once again proved to be a meaningful celebration of unity, creativity, and the enduring spirit of the PECIT community.

Officially turned over a Nikon DSLR camera to Imelda Mar Central Elementary School

This turnover is part of the Watchguild Project for SY 2025, a continuing commitment to uplift young learners and empower school communities through creativity and visual storytelling.

This initiative was led by Dr. Josephine U. Acha, Research and Extension Director and Watchguild Adviser, together with our generous donor, Mrs. Maria Cecilia Z. Matillano, EVP and Academic Affairs, whose support continues to open doors for learning and innovation.

Joining the turnover were Watchguild Coordinator Mae Ann Renacia, Editor-in-Chief Mane M. Talibong, and our dedicated photojournalists Chrisjunmar Masada, AJ Divina, and Krisha Madula, who all shared their passion and insights with the students.

We extend our heartfelt gratitude to Imelda Mar Central Elementary School for your warm hospitality. Special thanks to Principal Rhoje Lustiva, School Head/Principal, and to all the dedicated teachers of Imelda Mar thank you so much for welcoming us and for your unwavering support to your learners.

May this camera become a tool for young learners to capture stories, strengthen their skills, and see the world through a more creative lens. 📷

A productive and insightful day for our BSBA students as they took part in the Seminar-Workshop on Writing Financial Statements.

Our heartfelt gratitude to our esteemed speaker, Atty. Jessalyn R. Puerin, for generously sharing her expertise and guiding the participants through practical, real-world financial writing skills. Her insights truly inspired everyone to strive for accuracy, clarity, and professionalism.

Special appreciation to the Research and Extension Office, especially Doc. Josephine U. Acha, for her unwavering support in enhancing our students’ growth.
