JUST IN: Tsunami Warning Issued Following Powerful 7.6 Magnitude Quake Off Davao Oriental
The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (PHIVOLCS) has issued a Tsunami Warning after a magnitude 7.6 earthquake struck off the coast of Davao Oriental at 9:43 AM on October 10, 2025.
The quake’s epicenter was located at 07.07°N, 127.06°E, with a depth of 10 kilometers, confirming it occurred offshore in the Philippine Sea, east of Southern Mindanao.
PHIVOLCS warns that hazardous tsunami waves may impact coastal areas of Davao Oriental and nearby provinces. Residents in affected shorelines are strongly advised to immediately evacuate to higher ground and stay away from the beach and low-lying coastal zones.
Authorities are closely monitoring the situation and coordinating with local disaster management offices for immediate response and assessment. The public is urged to remain calm and follow only official advisories from PHIVOLCS and local government units.
