𝗔𝗗𝗩𝗜𝗦𝗢𝗥𝗬 | The MSU–Zamboanga Sibugay, RT Lim Extension, School of Nursing – Ipil Extension community is informed that all classes will shift to asynchronous learning modality on March 18–19, 2026 in observance of Eid’l Fitr.

The shift follows Memorandum No. 11-OC, Series of 2026, issued by the Office of the Chancellor on March 16, 2026.

Faculty members shall provide learning materials, readings, and assignment through official learning platforms. Students are expected to complete all the assigned learning activities within the prescribed schedule.

Administrative personnel will continue to report for duty. Offices delivering essential services will operate under a skeletal workforce, including the Registrar's Office, Cashier's Office, Admissions Office, Library Office, ICT Office, Campus Security, Facilities and Maintenance, and the Campus Clinic and Health Services.

All concern are advised to be quided accordingly.

The Municipal Yout Development Office of Buug convened the 1st Quarter Meeting of Local Youth Development Council on February 21, 2026 at the Youth and Teen Development Center in Buug, Zamboanga Sibugay, gathering youth leaders and stakeholders to discuss key programs and policy updates.

SSC MSU Zamboanga Sibugay Hon. Rhesa S. Centino was one of the representative who joined fellow council members in deliberation the CY 2025 Accomplishment Report, the CY 2026 Annual Youth Development Action Plan, NYC No. 159 of 2025 on LYDC Operations Guidelines, the upcoming True Love Wais Seminar 2026, and other matters concerning youth development in the municipality.

𝗡𝗘𝗪𝗦 𝗨𝗣𝗗𝗔𝗧𝗘 | OSR Seeks Class Suspension or Alternative Learning Day for EDSA day

The Office of the Student Regent (OSR) has formally requested the Office of the MSU System President to suspend classes or declare an Alternative Learning Day across MSU on February 25, 2026, in commemoration of the 40th Anniversary of the 1986 EDSA People Power Revolution.

As of now, MSU has not released a formal decision regarding the request.

The Supreme Student Council of Mindanao State University Zamboanga Sibugay joined fellow student leaders during the Cultural Night and Closing Program of the 75th Executive Summit and MSU Code Convention of the Federation of Mindanao State University Supreme Student Councils, held on February 16 at Mindanao State University Naawan. The culminating program brought together delegates from across the MSU System to celebrate cultural identity, solidarity, camaraderie, and a collective commitment to student governance.

The participation of the MSU ZS delegates reflects the university's continuous support for leadership development, active student engagement, and meaningful collaboration among campuses.

As the summit concluded, student leaders reaffirmed their shared vision of advancing student welfare, promoting unity within the MSU System, and upholding excellence in governance.

The Supreme Student Council of Mindanao State University Zamboanga Sibugay actively participated in the review, amendment, and proposals of new provisions to the MSU Code 1976 during the Executive Summit of the Federation of the Mindanao State University System Supreme Student Councils held on February 16, 2026 at Mindanao State University at Naawan, underscoring the importance of keeping university policies responsive to the evolving needs of the academic community.

Student leaders took part in committee deliberations and plenary discussions, proposed updates, and new provisions aimed at addressing university's academic and governance concerns. Joining the process were members of the Technical Working Group, Hon. Genelyn Aguilar and Hon. Ronald Singuit, who contributed to consolidation of proposed revisions.

The consolidated recommendation were endorsed and coordinated with the Student Regent Hon. Humphrey L. Ducalas for further review and endorsement.

The participation of MSU Zamboanga Sibugay SSC underscores its commitment to uphold policy reform, student welfare, and strengthened student representation across the MSU system.

The MSU Zamboanga Sibugay Sining Ghendawan Ensemble won the championship in the Inter-Collegiate Neo-Ethnic Dance Competition held at the Ipil Provincial Capitol Atrium on February 18, 2026, as part of the 25th Araw ng Sibugay celebration.

The ensemble’s victory was achieved with the continued support of Chancellor Dr. Sheila G. Magolama and the guidance of Creative Director Asst. Prof. Charmaine A. Manon-og, reflecting the group’s sustained commitment to cultural performance and excellence.

The MSU Zamboanga Sibugay Buug Cheer Dance Team earned 1st Runner Up in the Inter High School Cheer Dance Competition held on February 20 at the Buug Integrated Bus Terminal, as part of the 66th Araw ng Buug and 15th Bog Festival celebration. The team showcased tight formations, strong ex*****on, and synchronized routines, reflecting their discipline and commitment, congratulations on this achievement.

The Supreme Student Council of Mindanao State University Zamboanga Sibugay joined the 75th Federation of MSU Supreme Student Councils (FEMSUSSCO) Executive Meeting, on February 15, 2026 at Mindanao State University Naawan. The delegates took part in discussions and deliberated key student-centered proposals.

During the executive meeting, SSC President Rhesa S. Centino led the presentation and defense of the proposed measure before delegates from various campuses.

In pursuit of empowered and capable student governance, the proposal on the Institutionalization of a Mandatory Pre-Assumption Capacity-Building Program for All Local Council Officers was officially approved by the Student Regent Hon. Humphrey L. Ducalas.

This initiative aims to strengthen student governance by ensuring elected officers complete structured training and seminar before assuming office. The program will help the student leaders build competence, accountability, strengthening leadership and readiness in serving their respective campus and the student body.
