WATCH: Misamis Oriental 2nd District Rep. Bambi Emano has been elected as Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives during the 1st Regular Session of the House of Representatives on Monday, August 11, 2025.

As Deputy Speaker, Rep. Emano will serve as the presiding officer in sessions when the Speaker of the House is absent.

His responsibilities also include providing advice or recommendations on policies, strategies, and programs that benefit lawmakers, as well as participating in the legislative process and determining matters to be discussed and approved in plenary sessions.

The Deputy Speaker also assumes the duties of the House Speaker in cases of temporary or permanent vacancy in the highest position of the House of Representatives, until a new Speaker is elected.

Emano views this as an additional responsibility—being entrusted with the second-highest position in the House of Representatives—which he willingly accepts in service to the people, not only of Misamis Oriental but of the entire Philippines.

On July 28, 2025, following President Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos Jr.'s 4th State of the Nation Address (SONA), heads of government agencies convened at the Makabagong San Juan National Government Center in San Juan City.

This two-day event was designed to offer a more comprehensive and in-depth discussion of the Administration's accomplishments,
building on the President's address.

As one of the crucial agencies ensuring the nation's health security, PhilHealth actively participated in the third and final cluster on the first day, joining the Department of Health, Department of Human Settlements and Urban Development, and Department of Social Welfare and Development.

PhilHealth Spokesperson and Senior Vice President for Health Finance Policy Sector Dr. Israel Francis A. Pargas thoroughly discussed PhilHealth's revitalized primary care benefit package, Yaman ng Kalusugan Program or PhilHealth YAKAP. This program stands as a tangible representation of the President's vision for ensuring every Filipino's health and wellbeing.

PhilHealth YAKAP offers an expanded package of accessible health services, including medicines, check-ups and basic laboratory tests. In the coming weeks, members will see even greater benefits, six critical cancer screening tests will be activated, alongside access to 54 additional medicines under the strengthened PhilHealth GAMOT (Guaranteed Accessible Medications for Outpatient Treatment) will be made available.

This significantly widens the scope of care available to members.
As the Marcos Administration enters its 4th year under the banner of "Bagong Pilipinas," Filipinos can expect continued programs to build a nation where lives are better, healthier, and truly secured.

Cagayan de Oro City is buzzing with anticipation for the upcoming "Oras ng Himala" (Time of Miracles) event, a three-day healing ministry led by apostle Renato Carillo.

Scheduled for July 25th to 27th, the event promises a powerful display of faith and healing, drawing attention from across the region.

Carillo, known as the "Man of God," will arrive in the city on July 25th for private meetings with local bishops and pastors.

The main event, open to the public, will take place at the Liceo Civic Center within Liceo de Cagayan University on July 26th and 27th.

Pastor Brando Opsimar of Jesus is our Shield, the independent church shared his excitement, highlighting the transformative impact of similar events.

"These 'Oras ng Himala' missions have already touched countless lives," he said, emphasizing the divine blessing they offer, especially to those who have lost hope.

The event is designed to be a multifaceted experience, focusing not only on physical healing and miracles but also on emotional restoration and spiritual renewal.

Pastor Mercy Tubianosa of Bukidnon extended a warm invitation to everyone, regardless of their religious background, to witness the event.

She described it as an opportunity for healing and redemption, offering solace to those struggling with various ailments and challenges.

𝙉𝙀𝙒𝙎 𝙐𝙋𝘿𝘼𝙏𝙀| THERMA SOUTH INK P8 MILLION WORTH OF COMMUNITY PROJECT

Aboitiz Power Corporation (AboitizPower) subsidiary Therma South, Inc. (TSI) formalized P8 million for disaster preparedness and education programs in Davao City and Davao del Sur.
In Inawayan, Santa Cruz, Davao del Sur, a portion of the amount will fund disaster risk reduction management tools and equipment, as well as training for disaster-related rescue operations. It also covers solar electrification projects for barangay offices in Inawayan and Binugao, Davao City.

Under an agreement with the Department of Education (DepEd) and the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA), 20 high school students from Inawayan and Binugao will receive financial aid worth P7,300 each per year. Another 19 residents will get full college scholarships, inclusive of a P25,000 allowance per semester.

“The impact of this project will be built for years to come, not only for this year but for the next generation. We are proud that our learners from Davao del Sur are part of it,” said DepEd District Supervisor of the South of Davao del Sur, Hazel Luna.

Meanwhile, Therma Marine, Inc. (TMI) earmarked a total of P4 million to healthcare and outreach projects in its host communities in Maco, Davao de Oro and Nasipit, Agusan del Norte.
In Maco, TMI Mobile 1 allocated P1.8 million to bolster the Municipal Health Office's physical therapy program. This includes the procurement of exercise equipment, as well as advanced electronic devices like rehabilitation robot gloves, neuromuscular electrical stimulation (NMES) units, and a physiotherapy therapeutic ultrasound device.

“Some of these equipment target specific aspects of physical therapy that are not usually met with the current facilities available at our regional health unit,” explained Maco Municipal Health Office OIC Liezl Andoy. “With AboitizPower’s donation, our massage therapists may be able to cater to more patients since the treatment of each may be potentially shortened.”

In Nasipit, TMI Mobile 2 allotted P2.2 million in projects for healthcare, livelihood, and disaster resilience, which includes the acquisition of a thermocoagulator for Nasipit’s Regional Health Unit. A thermocoagulator is a medical device used to treat human tissue lesions, particularly in cases of cervical cancer.

In her speech, Agusan del Norte Governor Angel Amante commended the positive presence of AboitizPower in the area, citing revitalization of interest from other businesses and industries.

TSI owns and operates the 300-megawatt circulating fluidized bed coal-fired power plant located in Davao City and Sta. Cruz, Davao del Sur. Meanwhile, TMI owns and operates power barges in Maco, Davao de Oro, and Nasipit, Agusan del Norte, with a total installed capacity of 200 megawatts.

Cagayan de Oro City+ The Department of Social Welfare and Development Field Office X (DSWD-10) has officially commenced the simultaneous delivery of goods this week to the provinces of Bukidnon, Misamis Oriental, Camiguin, and Lanao del Norte as part of the implementation of the FY 2025 Supplementary Feeding Program (SFP) across Northern Mindanao.

This marks the official start of the 120-day feeding program in Child Development Centers (CDCs) and Supervised Neighborhood Plays (SNPs) groups. Each center received raw, nutritious food items based on the recommended menu developed during last year’s menu planning. The menu is tailored to the food preferences of children and the availability of commodities in the region.

This year, the SFP has also begun the implementation of alternative meals, complementary food packs consumed by children every Saturday and Sunday. This initiative aims to sustain the children's nutritional intake even during weekends, ensuring continuous and uninterrupted nourishment.

The alternative meals were developed by the Food and Nutrition Research Institute under the Department of Science and Technology, which is mandated to conduct research and formulate nutritious food products that address the country’s prevailing nutrition and food security concerns.

Following the delivery of goods, CDCs and SNPs have already started their feeding activities. The program aims to significantly reduce, if not eliminate, the number of malnourished children by the end of the feeding cycle, especially with the inclusion of weekend meals.

Deliveries of goods are scheduled every two weeks. Next week, Misamis Occidental is set to receive its allocation, marking the start of its implementation of the feeding program.

“Para sa akong anak nga malnourished, naay dakong kakulangon sa kahimsog, tungod sa SFP, katong sa feeding program, dako kaayo ko’g pasalamat kay na-improve iyahang timbang ug iyahang height … dako gyud siyag kausaban,” says Evangeline Lerasan, a parent-beneficiary of SFP.

SFP provides additional food, apart from the regular three meals a day, to children enrolled in CDCs and SNPs. It aims to improve and sustain their nutritional status by using indigenous or locally produced foods that meet one-third of the recommended energy and nutrient intake. The program also enhances the knowledge, attitude, and practices of children, parents, and caregivers through intensified nutrition and health education.
