Ferdinand Marcos Jr. Orders Temporary 4-Day Workweek for Some Executive Offices Amid Rising Fuel Prices.
Some offices under the Executive Department will temporarily shift to a four-day workweek starting March 9, President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. announced on Friday.
The move comes as fuel prices continue to rise due to increasing tensions in the Middle East.
Government agencies that provide emergency and frontline services will not be covered by this arrangement.
Marcos Jr. said, โThose delivering emergency or essential services such as the police, firefighters, and offices that provide frontline services to the public are not included.โ
He also instructed all government agencies to adopt energy-saving measures and cut electricity and fuel consumption by 10โ20%.
In addition, the president temporarily suspended non-essential government trips and activities. โTravel and activities that are not necessaryโsuch as study tours, team-building events, or meetings that can be conducted online are temporarily prohibited,โ Marcos Jr. said.
