FA Magazine features the CASA NUAN Project — a refined tropical retreat set within the historic landscape of Bacolor, Pampanga.

Designed by Ar. Kym Jaffna H. Pineda, Casa Nuan expands Nuan’s Farm and Resort through architecture that embraces openness, natural ventilation, and a seamless relationship with water and greenery. Elevated volumes, wide windows, warm timber elements, and textured stone walls come together to create a serene sanctuary rooted in place.

Anchored by a courtyard pond and framed by lush foliage, the home reinterprets vernacular sensibilities in a contemporary language — proving that tropical design is most powerful when it works with nature, not against it.

Happy Araw ng Davao!

Today, we join in the celebration as we reflect on the enduring story of resilience behind one of the city’s most familiar heritage landmarks, the Davao City Hall.

For a century, it has stood at the heart of the city, watching generations pass, governance evolve, and the spirit of Davao grow stronger.

PRESS RELEASE: Balay Balay Launches 2026 Heritage Architectural Collectibles Featuring Torogan and Binanwa

The Balay Balay Heritage Architectural Collectibles return in 2026 with a new release celebrating two traditional Philippine house forms: the Torogan, the royal house of the Meranaw, and the Binanwa, the elevated house of the Ata community of Paquibato. These finely crafted wooden architectural models are designed to honor indigenous architecture and highlight the cultural wisdom embedded in traditional Filipino homes.

Balay Balay was created to bring attention to the richness of Philippine vernacular architecture by translating iconic house forms into collectible architectural models. Each piece reflects the ingenuity of indigenous builders whose designs responded to climate, available materials, and community life long before modern construction methods emerged.

For the 2026 edition, every Balay Balay collectible is individually serial numbered and stamped with its batch and set number, ensuring traceability and authenticity. Each piece is also accompanied by a certificate card wet-signed by the makers, documenting its place within the limited series.

Only 50 sets per edition will be produced for this release, reinforcing the collectible nature of the series and preserving the integrity of the craftsmanship behind each model.

The Torogan edition pays tribute to the grand ancestral houses of the Meranaw nobility, known for their sweeping rooflines and elaborate okir carvings that symbolize status, artistry, and cultural identity. The Binanwa edition reflects the elevated house of the Ata community of Paquibato, a structure designed for resilience in upland environments with raised floors and breathable spaces suited to the tropical climate.

Through these collectible models, Balay Balay aims to spark renewed interest in traditional Filipino architecture among architects, educators, collectors, and cultural advocates. The initiative encourages a deeper appreciation of indigenous design principles such as climate responsiveness, elevated living spaces, and community oriented planning that remain relevant to contemporary architectural practice.

Orders for the 2026 Balay Balay Heritage Architectural Collectibles are open until April 26, 2026. Production of this limited batch will begin after the ordering period closes.

Featured Project: Nestled in the cool highlands of Tagaytay, this proposed two-storey residence by Klick Design Studio unfolds with calm intention. Clean lines anchor the architecture, while warm wood textures soften its presence. Spaces flow gently from one to another, inviting light, air, and everyday life to move freely through the home. It is a residence designed not to impress loudly, but to endure gracefully—rooted in simplicity, comfort, and a deep respect for place.

Filipina Architect, an Architecture Show

Hi! Gloryrose here. I'm a Filipina Architect and this is the Filipina Architect Architecture Show. Welcome to my page! We're going to geek out on arki stuff and learn new things along the way.

My goal is to make Philippine architecture and heritage popular through my YouTube channel. We're going to post fun arki stuff on Facebook, too, once in a while. I like sharing how the traditional heritage of the Philippines and cultural identity can be used in modern-day settings.

I believe that one of the keys to making our country great is to show our cultural identity in our built environments.
