COCPO Women’s Month Dragon Boat Competition Champions Empowerment and Inclusivity

Cagayan de Oro City – The Cagayan de Oro City Police Office (COCPO), led by PCOL SALVADOR N RADAM, City Director, successfully hosted the COCPO Women’s Dragon Boat Competition earlier today (March 1, 2025) at Rio De Oro Boulevard, Riverside, Barangay 17, Cagayan de Oro City. This inspiring event celebrated the strength, resilience, and talent of women in law enforcement through sports and camaraderie.

The program commenced with an invocation by PEMS Marjorie E. Acain, SocMed PNCO, followed by welcome remarks from PLTCOL LLEWELLYN C DATILES, Deputy City Director for Administration. Mr. John Asuncion, President of Dragonboat Kagay-an, presented the competition mechanics, while PLTCOL NERFE D VALMORIA, Chief of the City Operations Unit, led the oath of sportsmanship.

PCOL RADAM, in his inspiring address, emphasized the importance of gender inclusivity and empowerment in the organization. He highlighted the role of sports in fostering resilience, breaking stereotypes, and building solidarity among personnel.

"Through this initiative, COCPO seeks to create a more inclusive and equitable society where every individual, regardless of gender, has the opportunity to strive and succeed. Through sports, we aim to foster inclusivity, empowerment, and solidarity among our personnel, showcasing the talent and resilience of women in sports. The event aims to inspire and empower, to break barriers, challenge stereotypes, and pursue our dreams with confidence and determination," PCOL RADAM stated.

A key highlight of the event was the Dragon Boat orientation for participants, culminating in an exciting 100-meter Dragon Boat Race. The CHQ Quad Team emerged as champions, demonstrating remarkable teamwork and sportsmanship.

COCPO extends its heartfelt gratitude to its esteemed partners who contributed to the success of the event: the Local Government Unit (LGU) of Cagayan de Oro, the Philippine Coast Guard, and the Barangay Carmen Dragon Boat Club.

This initiative marks another step toward empowering women in law enforcement and beyond, reinforcing the values of equality, perseverance, and camaraderie through sports.
