CIO SHINES IN COPC FRIENDSHIP GAMES; ADECER LIFTS TEAM TO WIN OVER PIO
The Cagayan de Oro City Information Office (CIO) and the Provincial Information Office (PIO) joined the Cagayan de Oro Press Club (COPC) in celebrating Press Freedom Week, which officially opened on Monday, May 25, 2026.
Jade Adecer, head of the CIO, not only led the office delegation but also served as playing captain during the game. Adecer showcased strong leadership on and off the court, delivering an impressive performance and contributing as one of the team’s scoring leaders.
The event featured a friendly basketball competition aimed at strengthening camaraderie among media practitioners and partner agencies.
The CIO team delivered a strong performance, securing a victory over the PIO with a final score of 54–43.
Morning Game Results:
Strong Radio defeated Kapisanan ng mga Brodkaster ng Pilipinas (KBP), 35–22
Mindanao Daily defeated Cagayan de Oro Press Club (COPC), 54–39
Radio Mindanao Network (RMN) defeated RPN DXKO, 51–28
CIO defeated PIO, 54–43
Bombo Radyo defeated Trumpita, 45–36
Radyo Pilipinas was declared winner over Magnum (Magnum played with only three players)
The afternoon games will feature matchups between the morning winners in a series of competitive fixtures.
Players expressed hope for fair and spirited games, emphasizing that win or lose, the main objective is to promote camaraderie among COPC members and participating media networks.
The COPC Basketball Friendship Games is one of the highlighted activities in this year’s Press Freedom Week celebration.
All participating teams are set to receive certificates of recognition and cash incentives in appreciation of their participation.
