Security Plan for the Procession of Feast of the Black Nazarene are all Set
Cagayan de Oro City, January 8, 2026- PCOL DEXTER G PAJE, Officer-In-Charge of COCPO reiterates to the public that COCPO are all Set pertaining to its Security Implementation Plan in relation for the Feast of the Black Nazarene wherein the Annual procession will takes place at the major thoroughfares in the city on January 9, 2026 at 5:00 AM right after a 3:00 AM Holy Mass at Saint Agustin Metropolitan Cathedral.
In anticipation, the annual Feast will attract a significant number of devotees who will go along the procession leading to densely packed crowds. To ensure the safety and security of participants and devotees, COCPO Security Plan is laid out and shall be implemented headed by the City Director of COCPO with the support from the Command group, Station Commanders and Chief of Units and Special Units and PNP COCPO personnel shall have their own tasking to ensure the peaceful, orderly, and secure conduct of Black Nazarene procession.
PCOL PAJE assures the public that COCPO are in full force on the said occassion. He shall spearhead and serves as a Commander of an organized Site Task Group-CDO (STG-CDO) Black Nazarene 2026 which shall provide provide Strategic Direction to the Sub-Task Force and supervise the deployment operations of force resources in coordination with member agencies concerned and tasks units. He further reminded the public/devotees to follow the PNP guidelines/advisory pertaining to the prohibited materials not allowed to bring on the said event and upon entering the Nazareno Parish Church.
During the press briefing headed by Rev. Msgr. Nathaniel Lerio, VG, SSJV, Parish Priest Nazareno Church, held at the Nazareno Parish Conference Hall on January 6, 2026, the City Disaster Risk Reduction Managent Council- Incident Management Team (CDRRMC-IMT) has been activated. The said press briefing were spearheaded by Mr. Nick Jabagat, Incident Commander along with Officer In-Charge of COCPO PCol Dexter G Paje, as the Deputy Incident Commander. Ten (10) Medical Aid Stations shall be provided and will be set up along the route of the procession in order for a quick response to any emergency and incident in the area.
PCOL Paje, identified the following ADVISORY to be strictly followed by the devotees;
* No Back Pack, Stove, picnic materials, umbrellas, hooded jackets, or selfie sticks,
* No sharp objects, knives, fi****ms, pyrotechnics, and glass containers
* No face covera like helmets, balaclavas, caps, or hodies
* No bringing of pricy jewelries and electronic gadgets
* No bringing of bulky things to avoid possible lost
* No flying of drones without permission from proper authority
SAFETY TIPS:
* Stay hydrated
* Be aware of your sorroundings
* Keep your belongings safe
* Just bring enough cash
* Bring medical personal kit
* Wear comportable clothes
* Protect yourself from rain
* Bring candies, snacks and food to eat and clean water to drink
* In case of emergency, go to the nearest Medical Aid Station
*Any suspicious personality, item with wires and batteries and unattended items, report immediately to the nearest police.
The following individuals are encourage not to join the annual procession:
* Pregnant Woman
* Children
* Senior Citizen
* Individuals with medical conditions/Sick
