For 18 years, an Iranian man named Mehran Karimi Nasseri lived inside Paris’ Charles de Gaulle Airport.

He became stranded there in 1988 after problems with his immigration documents left him unable to legally enter France or continue his journey. He spent years living in the airport’s Terminal 1, sleeping on a bench and relying on the help of airport staff.

Eventually, his situation changed and he left the airport in 2006. Years later, he returned to Charles de Gaulle and died there in 2022 after suffering a heart attack.

His extraordinary story also helped inspire the 2004 movie The Terminal.

One reported case involved a 17-year-old boy in Mexico who suffered a stroke after receiving a hickey on his neck. Doctors suspected that the trauma may have affected a blood vessel, potentially contributing to the formation of a blood clot that traveled toward his brain.

😳 HE THOUGHT HE WAS LOSING HIS HEARING—BUT THE REAL REASON WAS STUCK INSIDE HIS EAR

For around five years, Wallace Lee from Weymouth, England, believed his worsening hearing was the result of years spent working around noisy aircraft as a former Royal Navy engineer.

But the real cause turned out to be something much more unexpected.

A tiny piece of an earplug had been lodged deep inside his ear canal, apparently since a flight to Australia in 2017. Lee had no idea it was still there.

After struggling with his hearing for years, he eventually discovered that something was blocking his ear. An ENT specialist later removed the roughly 1-centimeter plastic piece** using medical instruments.

The result was almost immediate.

Lee said that as soon as the object was removed, the muffled feeling he had experienced for years disappeared, and he could suddenly hear clearly again.

What he thought was permanent hearing loss caused by years around loud aircraft engines was actually linked to a tiny forgotten piece of an earplug.

Sometimes, the cause of a problem can be hiding in the most unexpected place. 😳
