Today, March 13, 2024, at 8 AM, SM CDO Malls have successfully held a fire and evacuation simulation in honor of Fire Prevention Month. The goal of this project is to assess the Malls' readiness and exercises using the requirements set by the Bureau of Fire and Protection. BFP officers participated in this activity as well, educating staff members and renters on the evacuation and emergency response protocols of the malls.
This noteworthy endeavor highlights the retail behemoth's commitment to guaranteeing the preparedness of its staff, renters, and customers concerning fire safety and emergency response procedures.
In order to recreate emergency fire situations and give participants the opportunity to engage in realistic scenarios, a variety of coordinated activities were implemented for the nationwide fire drill that was held today morning.
The ex*****on of these drills was thorough and efficient since they were carried out strictly in accordance with regional safety laws and guidelines.
The exercise covered a wide range of emergency management topics, such as how to use fire extinguishers, evacuation protocols, and coordinating with nearby fire departments and emergency services to guarantee a smooth and organized reaction in the case of a real disaster.
The success of the practice was greatly attributed to the involvement and assistance of several local organizations, who also provided insightful criticism to improve future drills.
With the aim of continuously improving their emergency response procedures and guaranteeing that safety remains a top priority across all of its retail sites, SM Supermalls has promised to carry out these exercises on a regular basis after the simulation was successfully concluded.

GROUNDBREAKING OF LAGUINDINGAN AIRPORT EXPANSION PROJECT

Department of Transportation (DOTr) Secretary Jaime Bautista together with Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP) Director General Captain Manuel Antonio Tamayo led the groundbreaking ceremony of the expansion of Laguindingan Airport’s Passenger Terminal Building (PTB) today, February 4. Once completed, it will increase its pre-departure terminal capacity to 860 passengers daily from its current 500 passengers. With a budget allocation of P32.3 million, the project is estimated to be completed in August 2024....

This marks the start of the construction for the expanded Passenger Terminal Building (PTB) in the Laguindingan Airport with an additional 720 square meters to its pre-departure area.

Dubbed as the second busiest airport in Mindanao and the main gateway to Northern Mindanao, once the construction is completed it will increase its passenger capacity from its current 500 to 860 passengers at any given time.

"The upcoming expansion project will not only provide better passenger experience but will also push further our goals towards sustainability," DOTr Secretary Jaime J. Bautista said during the ceremony.

The continuous improvement of the airport is expected to further usher employment, economic, and tourism growth, not only in Misamis Oriental but also in the whole of Mindanao.

This is a testament to the promise to make the transport service comfortable, accessible, safe, sustainable and affordable across the archipelago to promote better accessibility, connectivity, and mobility to provinces and island communities.

SM CEBU MALLS OFFER COLORFUL, VIBRANT SINULOG EXPERIENCE

Celebrate Sinulog, the country’s grandest festival, at your favorite SM malls in Cebu! Immerse yourself in the excitement of festive events at the core of the Sinulog Festival this month of January.

The Sinulog Festival in Cebu is a vibrant and deeply-rooted religious celebration that traces its origins to the Feast of the Sto. Nino.

RELIGIOUS EXHIBITION
To start off the celebration, SM City Cebu and Ramon Aboitiz Foundation, Inc. present the Treasures of Devotion, a virtual exhibition of religious objects or objects of devotion. Through photo and video documentation, the religious objects found in diocesan and parish museums and private collections in Cebu were catalogued, unearthing layers of memories and experiences accrued by generations of believers and discovering stories of faith and devotion as shown, shaped, and sustained by these religious artifacts. The exhibition is located at the first level of the North Wing, and is ongoing until January 31.

The Order of Saint Augustine brings to the Cebuanos the OSANino @ 40 exhibit at the Cube Wing Atrium of SM Seaside City Cebu which is ongoing until January 21, 2024. The Augustinian Friars of the Province of Sto. Niño de Cebu – Philippines celebrate with great joy the 40th anniversary of their juridical existence as a Province and with grateful hearts thank the Lord for this grace-filled period of religious witnessing to the Charism of the Order and of fruitful service to the Church in the Philippines and in other parts of the world.

ART EXHIBIT
Shoppers are also invited to witness the Sto. Nino painting exhibit by Friday Group Sessionistas from January 10 to 24 at the level 3 Seaview Wing of SM Seaside City Cebu. The exhibit highlights on the Santo Niño and is timed with the celebration of the Sinulog festival, which honors the Holy Child.

SM Supermalls has once again organized ChriSMiles, a volunteer activity that has become a yearly Christmas tradition, aiming to benefit communities with special needs.

In this season of giving, SM Supermalls and Jollibee unite to spread the joy to the kids with Leukemia at the home with little warriors, Leupapo INC. in Bulua, Cagayan de Oro City.

The organization shelters children experiencing physical degradation, fighting to live a healthy life. SM volunteers shared a moment with the patients to celebrate the holiday season. They extended help, and bonded with the children, and learned about their inspiring journey in beating leukemia.

There are ninety children and an approximate number of parents who live in LEUPAPO today. The SM CDO Malls gave food baskets, and grocery items for each family and the organization, something they can share for Christmas.

The official partner of SM, Jollibee Foods Corporation, shared the joy of eating great tasting food with the kids of LEUPAPO.

It was a meaningful day for everyone, the founder of the organization shared that the best way to encourage the children to fight is to bring joy in their hearts. It has been his long commitment to help patients and welcome anyone who needed help. The kids were very excited to see Jollibee perform exclusively for them. The happiness they felt warmed the hearts of everyone, especially to see them dance and sing for joy. It was one of the best ways to celebrate the holidays, bringing hope to the patients, sharing a beautiful memory they will carry in their journey.

The little warriors of the shelter painted a beautiful picture of joy through the smiles on their faces. It was a memorable day especially to the volunteers of the activity. A beautiful moment SM CDO Malls would like to share and encourage everyone to pass on the culture of kindness to make our communities even better.
