Jeff P. Uriarte - Seminary Studies

Jeff P. Uriarte - Seminary Studies I am Jeff Uriarte from Cagayan de Oro, Philippines. I am studying in the Canadian Reformed Theological Seminary here in Hamilton, Ontario. Hello. My name is Jeff.

I have been a Reformed Christian Pastor in the Philippines for 15 years. By the grace of my Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, I am now beginning a new journey as a Master of Divinity student in another country. My wife, Michelle, has shared in this desire to study since we were married 10 years ago. We will be undertaking this new journey together with our son, Aslan. I am creating this new Facebook

page to focus on my ministry and studies, while my personal page (https://www.facebook.com/jeffreyuriarte/) will be reserved for personal matters.

With thankfulness to the Lord CRTS begins the 2025-26 academic year on September 8th, welcoming 25 students into our classrooms. As we continue to train men to proclaim the holy gospel throughout our Father's world, we lift up our hearts and look eagerly toward the return of our King on the clouds of heaven. "And this gospel of the kingdom will be proclaimed throughout the whole world as a testimony to all nations, and then the end will come" (Matt 24:14). Acknowledging full dependence on our God, we ask for your prayerful support.
• Please ask for the Lord's blessing and guidance for our eleven graduating students as they transition from seminary life into service with Christ's church in various places and roles. We also look forward to welcoming you at Convocation on Friday, September 5. (https://canadianreformedseminary.ca/convocation-2025/)
• Also join us in asking our Lord and Saviour for his blessing upon our five new full-time MDiv students as well as one part-time BTh student as they and their loved ones make adjustments in this new chapter of their lives.
• Our faculty and staff, along with the board, including newly appointed governors, are busy with their many responsibilities. May the all-sufficient "Father of lights" (James 1:17) provide them all with strength and wisdom.
• Much time and effort has gone into our revamped website, especially an entirely new section, "Considering the Ministry." May the Lord use the information and videos to advance his kingdom with many more heralds of his Word. (https://canadianreformedseminary.ca/considering-the-ministry/)
As always, brothers and sisters in the Lord, we remain genuinely grateful for all your support and encouragement in so many different ways.

Guess what! There is another Filipino student in CRTS! Jan Rey Flores is from Mindanao, Philippines. He served as an Elder in the Butuan Reformed Church for some years before settling in Western Australia in the last 3-4 years, as he is married to Lucinda. He is now here with his wife and son, Isaac and he will be a first year student for the MDiv program.

We are now back in Hamilton, Ontario, for the second year, continuing my seminary studies at CRTS. We spent 10 weeks enjoying our summer vacation in the Philippines, which was a truly blessed time. God provided us with the opportunity to refresh and reconnect with our families, friends, and churches. We also had the joy of meeting new people and congregations, and I am excited about the possibilities that lie ahead!

Signing off for year 1.
This journey has had its share of challenges, but the joy of the Lord's blessings outweighs them all.
Thanks to all who have been part of this journey.

Praise the Lord for hearing our prayers and granting our requests! Aslan's dental procedure went well, and he has quickly recovered from the effects of the sedation.

We are especially thankful for the favour of being able to have the procedure done here. Initially, we wanted Aslan's dental work completed in the Philippines when the cavity was still small. However, we were unable to get medical clearance due to his recurring rhinitis, and the costs were prohibitively high.

When we arrived here, the cavity had worsened, and Aslan began to complain of tooth pain. We consulted a dentist who recommended seeing a sleep dentistry specialist to address multiple issues at once. However, our insurance would not cover expenses that would exceed $1,000.

Thanks to the support of some people from our church, Aslan could enroll in a government program for low-income residents. We paid literally nothing for the procedure.

Brothers and sisters,

Michelle and I would like to ask you to include Aslan in your prayers for his dental procedure, which will be performed under sleep tomorrow at 8:15 AM EST

Thanks.

A fellow student gave a short workshop (photo in the comment section) on using Logos Bible Software. This resource has been helpful for me in my pastoral work since 2012, and as a seminarian, it is also of tremendous benefit to me.

You can help me get additional valuable books by sending a gift card. Please let me know if you can so I can give you my Logos account details.

Not sure what to get for the Logos user in your circle of family and friends? Send them a digital gift card that they can use on any product from Faithlife or Logos, with no fees or expiration dates! Digital gift cards are applied to your chosen recipient's account as credit and can be used on any F...

This year's interim semester theme is Global Missions. On this third day, Rev. J van Spronsen gave a speech titled "Can you be a foreign missionary?"

Rev R Bout from the URCNA also gave a very encouraging talk. I met Rev Bout about 10 years ago in Cagayan de Oro.

A fellow student gave me some of his extra books. I already have these in my Logos digital library, so these volumes will go to the pastor's library, which we are slowly putting up in Cagayan de Oro.

08/01/2025

The second semester will start in less than two weeks, but students, professors and staff are now back at the seminary for the Interim semester. We get to listen to lectures on Global Missions.

Please continue to pray for me as I prepare to continue my Master of Divinity studies here at the Canadian Reformed Theological Seminary.

We also ask you to pray for Michelle as she begins her certificate study on biblical counselling. Our son Aslan will also return to his homeschooling studies.
