Barangay Gusa conducted its Barangay Day for the 2nd Semester of Calendar Year 2025 on October 26, 2025, at the Barangay Gusa Covered Court in Cagayan de Oro City. The event opened with expressions of gratitude to residents and partner organizations for their continuous support and active participation in various barangay programs and activities.
In his opening message, Gusa Punong Barangay Hon. Marlo L. Tabac, who also serves as the Liga ng mga Barangay President โ CDO Chapter, emphasized the importance of unity and collaboration within the community, commending everyone for their involvement in the barangayโs development initiatives.
During the assembly, the Barangay Kagawads presented their respective committee reports and updates on ongoing projects.
Hon. Joseph โBotoyโ Baltazar, Chairperson of the Committee on Peace and Order, presented updates on community safety and security measures, including efforts to address theft, disturbances, and peacekeeping operations. He also discussed developments concerning relocation sites and the barangayโs continuous campaign against illegal drugs.
Hon. Imelda Salcedo, Chairperson of the Committee on Women, Family, and Children Relations, expressed gratitude to the attendees and highlighted initiatives that promote womenโs empowerment, family welfare, and child protection. Hon. Erwin Obenza, Chairperson of the Committee on Infrastructure, reported the completion of several development projects, including flood control improvements, road concreting, and facility construction. He also announced upcoming projects and maintenance activities aimed at enhancing accessibility and public infrastructure.
Hon. Georen Gradinab, Chairperson of the Committee on Environment, commended volunteers who supported the barangayโs waste management and recycling initiatives. He discussed the operation of the green truck for waste collection and efforts to improve environmental sustainability through proper waste segregation and disposal.
Hon. Emmanuel โTotoโ Beja, Chairperson of the Committee on Health and Sanitation, discussed public health initiatives, including updates on PhilHealth services and programs addressing teenage pregnancy. He also encouraged residents to participate in tuberculosis testing and shared developments on ongoing health and wellness programs under the YAKAP Center.
Hon. Leonides โNiloโ Wagas, Chairperson of the Committee on Public Utilities, reported on road-clearing operations and the regular maintenance of public facilities to ensure accessibility, safety, and efficiency in service delivery.
Hon. Paloma Diaz, Chairperson of the Committee on Social Services and Livelihood, shared updates on community welfare programs and livelihood support initiatives. She also acknowledged UNICEFโs assistance in providing canisters for learnersโ portfolios and essential materials for educational use.
Representing SK Chairperson Hon. Dorlyn Rose P. Baltazar, SK Kagawad Blue Denver Blanela delivered the Sangguniang Kabataan report, highlighting youth-driven programs such as the Gabay Aral project, the launching of MUGNA 2025, and other SK initiatives.
He also shared the outcomes of the KK Assembly, where each SK Kagawad presented their reports, including financial transparency updates, the oath-taking of Purok Youth Officers, and the donation of a printer and bond papers to the Alternative Learning System (ALS). The SK Council likewise participated in the National World Day celebration at East Gusa National High School and implemented the Buligan Ka and Kauban Ta programs.
In his State of the Barangay Address (SOBA), Punong Barangay Hon. Marlo L. Tabac provided a comprehensive summary of the barangayโs accomplishments, ongoing programs, and future plans. He emphasized the importance of continuous collaboration among residents, highlighting initiatives that promote community welfare, environmental management, and sustainable development.
Punong Barangay Tabac reaffirmed his commitment to transparent and inclusive governance, encouraging every Gusa resident to remain an active partners in progress.
