Become the Person You Need to Be

Every artist, creator, freelancer, or entrepreneur has a version of themselves they dream of becoming.

More disciplined.
More confident.
More creative.
More consistent.
A stronger version who can carry the vision they want to build.

But becoming that person doesn’t happen overnight.

The truth is, your target persona, the future version of you, is not built by motivation alone. It is shaped by the habits, mindset, and standards you choose every day.

Start by asking yourself:
Who do I need to become to achieve the life I want?

If your goal is to become a respected artist, then build the habits of an artist who shows up even without inspiration.
If your vision is to become a successful business owner, then think like someone who values systems, discipline, and long-term growth.
If you want to become a confident creator, then start acting in alignment with that confidence, even while you’re still learning.

Minsan hindi natin kailangan hintayin na “ready” tayo.
Minsan kailangan lang nating magsimulang kumilos bilang taong gusto nating maging.

Change begins with identity.

The way you spend your mornings.
The way you protect your time.
The way you talk to yourself when things go wrong.
The way you continue despite fear.

All of these shape your future self.

Your target persona is not something you find.
It is something you build.

Little by little.
Choice by choice.
Day by day.

Hindi mo kailangang maging perfect agad.
You just need to become more aligned with the version of yourself you are aiming for.

Because success is rarely about becoming someone else.
It’s about becoming the strongest version of who you already are.

Don’t Waste the Moment, Turn Every Situation Into a Wake-Up Call

Not every situation in life comes to break you.
Sometimes, it comes to wake you up.

There are moments when things slow down no clients, no traction, no clear direction. And while it’s easy to see these situations as setbacks, they can also be signals. Signals that something needs to shift, improve, or begin.

Every challenge carries a message.
A quiet season can be an invitation to plan.
A rejection can be a reason to improve your offer.
A stressful day can reveal what part of your system needs fixing.

Don’t waste the moment by staying stuck in frustration.

Use every situation as an awakening.
A reminder to start the project you’ve been delaying.
To finally build that idea in your mind.
To create something productive for yourself whether it’s a new service, a product, a system, or a personal development goal.

Minsan ang discomfort ang nagtutulak sa atin para gumalaw.
Hindi para matakot, kundi para magising.

Every experience, good or bad, can become material for growth.
A new idea.
A stronger mindset.
A more disciplined version of you.

Instead of asking, “Why is this happening to me?”
try asking, “What is this situation teaching me?”

Because sometimes, the moment that feels like pressure is actually the beginning of progress.

Don’t waste the season.
Turn it into momentum.

AS WE KNOW - Jah Borromeo

This week on As We Know, we step into a story shaped by growth, letting go, and finding your voice again. We feature Jah Borromeo, a vocalist whose journey reflects both the beauty and the weight of being an artist in the underground scene.

Jah’s story began early, singing as a child, long before the stage. But it was in 2014, during her college years, when everything took form. She joined a band with friends, exploring covers from J-rock and alternative bands like Paramore and We Are the In Crowd. What started as curiosity quickly turned into something deeper.

“When we started writing our own songs, that’s when I realized I wanted to become an artist.”

As the former vocalist of Taylah, Jah found her place in the underground music scene playing gigs, joining battle of the bands, and discovering her sound. Influenced by both international acts and local icons like UDD, her songwriting became rooted in real emotions and lived experiences.

Her creative process is simple, but honest:
“I just write what I genuinely feel… then create melodies with my bandmates.”

But one of the most defining moments of her journey came in 2022, when she made the difficult decision to leave Taylah, a band that had become a huge part of her identity.

“It was really hard… but it helped me grow and find my own path as an artist.”

That moment tested her but it also revealed her strength.

Like many artists, Jah faced self-doubt and moments of wanting to give up. What kept her going wasn’t just passion it was the people around her.

“The people who believed in me reminded me of my worth.”

Her music today carries a clear intention:
to give love, comfort, and connection to listeners.

“I want people to feel understood… and reminded that they’re not alone.”

Being on stage shaped her not just as a performer, but as a person teaching her humility, gratitude, and the importance of every opportunity. And now, as she steps into a new chapter of her life becoming a mother, her journey takes on even deeper meaning.

Beyond music, Jah describes herself simply:
shy, sometimes awkward, but also someone who’s learning, growing, and becoming stronger every day.

Her goals are clear to release more songs, to keep creating, and to finally share the stories she has been holding onto for years.

Because for Jah, music isn’t just something you perform.
It’s something you carry with you even when paths change.

🎤 As we know Jah Borromeo, she is proof that growth sometimes means letting go, and that even after the hardest transitions, your voice will always find its way back.

💬 Now it’s your turn.
How do you see Jah Borromeo as an artist? Share your thoughts, favorite moments, or memories with her journey and music in the comments.

AS WE KNOW - Inna Porto

This March, as we celebrate National Women's Month, Moodnight Sessions continues highlighting women who are shaping their own space in the music scene. For this week’s As We Know feature, we shine the light on Inna Porto, the vocalist of Insolitvde

Inna’s journey with music started where many true passions begin: at home. Her family always encouraged creativity, and that support gave her the confidence to explore singing and music. Over time, she realized that music wasn’t just a hobby it became her language for expressing thoughts and emotions.

Her musical influences come from powerful bands like Evanescence and Paramore, known for emotional storytelling and strong sonic identity. At the same time, she draws inspiration from the vibrant local music community in the Philippines and from genres she loves R&B, pop, alternative, and metal. Those influences blend into the way she writes and performs today.

For Inna, songwriting is deeply personal. Her lyrics often grow from her current mood and emotional state. Once her bandmates in Insolitvde create the instrumental foundation, she begins shaping the melody and writing lyrics that carry the emotions she felt while creating the song. It’s a process that allows listeners not just to hear the music but to feel the story behind it.

Like many artists, her journey hasn’t been without challenges. Inna openly shared that she once went through a period of depression that prevented her from singing for four to five months, even though music was the thing she loved most. It was one of the most difficult moments in her life.

But she found her way back through the people who believed in her. Her son, who inspires her to keep moving forward, her husband, who gave what she calls “101% support,” and her family and friends who never stopped encouraging her. Their support helped her rediscover her voice and return to music stronger and more determined.

Her band, Insolitvde, also plays a huge role in her growth. The group constantly pushes each other creatively, allowing her to explore different approaches in every song they make. Their management, Mi Familia Collective, has also been instrumental in guiding and supporting the band as they continue to develop their craft and stage presence.

Being on stage and in front of the camera has transformed Inna as an artist. Performing taught her to build confidence, trust her abilities, and give her best in every moment not only during performances, but in life itself.

Her goal today is simple but powerful: to keep creating music that inspires people. She believes that dedication and sincerity are the foundations of any meaningful work, and she hopes their music can reach listeners who need it the most.

Beyond the stage, Inna describes herself in a way that reflects gratitude and perspective:
happy, contented, and thankful, someone who appreciates every opportunity and finds joy in the journey, not just the destination.

Insolitvde recently released a new music video, and it captures the emotional identity of the band quite well. The visuals highlight the band's raw performance energy while complementing the emotional tone of the song. The pacing of the shots allows the intensity of the music to breathe, and Inna’s vocal presence stands out delivering both vulnerability and strength.

What makes the video effective is its honesty. Instead of relying heavily on spectacle, it focuses on atmosphere and performance, allowing the song’s emotion to lead the experience. For fans of alternative and emotional rock, it’s a strong representation of what Insolitvde brings to the table.

✨ As We Know continues to document the journeys of artists who keep creating despite challenges because stories like Inna’s remind us that music is not just sound. It’s resilience, growth, and connection.

Now it’s your turn.
How do you see Inna Porto as a vocalist and artist? Share your thoughts, favorite moments, or experiences listening to Insolitvde in the comments. Let’s show some love and support for her journey in music.

✨ AS WE KNOW: Laura Jane

Every artist begins somewhere. For Laura Jane, that journey started early at ten years old, holding a guitar and learning the language of music through tablature, scales, and careful listening to the songs she loved. What began as curiosity slowly became discipline. By twelve, she was already serving as a rhythm guitarist in church, a space that helped shape not only her technical skills but also her understanding of collaboration and responsibility as a musician.

But creativity had already been part of Laura’s world long before the stage lights. As a child, she wrote poems, handmade greeting cards, and short stories. She sketched anime characters with friends and even experimented with building miniature furniture using cardboard, foam, and scraps. For Laura, creativity was never confined to one medium writing, drawing, crafting, and storytelling were all pieces of the same instinct to create.

Music eventually became the place where all those forms met.

At sixteen, Laura wrote her first song a moment that changed everything. She realized that music could carry meaning beyond a single setting. Years later, in 2011, she stepped into her first bar performance at Freedom Bar in Quezon City, where she met her first band mates and began consistently performing original material.

“What pushed me to start and continue has always been the desire to create music that carries meaning,” Laura shared.
“At its core, my work has always been about inspiration, faith, and connection.”

Her creative process reflects that same authenticity. Laura doesn’t follow rigid routines. Instead, ideas arrive in bursts — fragments of lyrics, melodies, or thoughts that she quickly documents before shaping them later. She often returns to these pieces in solitude, refining and structuring them with intention. Once a song begins to take form, she invites someone she deeply trusts to give honest feedback.

It’s a process built on spontaneity, reflection, and discernment allowing inspiration to flow freely, then shaping it carefully.

Like many independent artists, Laura has faced one of the most common realities in the creative world: limited resources. Building projects independently requires constant problem-solving. Instead of waiting for perfect circumstances, she learned to maximize what was available investing strategically, collaborating with the right people, and strengthening her craft over time.

Independence didn’t stop her.
It refined her.

Her journey has also been shaped by different communities. Some environments welcomed and supported her growth; others presented challenges that required discernment. Both experiences became teachers.

“Support strengthened my confidence; challenges strengthened my discernment,” she explained. “Together they helped me grow not just as a musician, but as a professional navigating a complex industry.”

After more than a decade of performing regular cover sets, Laura eventually experienced creative burnout something many artists quietly face. Instead of forcing herself forward, she chose to pause intentionally. What brought her back was returning to the heart of why she began: songwriting.

Writing original music reignited her purpose.

Today, Laura’s advocacy through music centers on truth-telling transforming lived experiences into songs that speak with honesty and clarity.

“I want listeners to feel seen in their struggles,” she said. “And empowered to rise above them through focus, accountability, and self-discipline.”

On stage, she has learned that visibility carries responsibility. Not every audience will resonate with you, and learning to remain grounded in that reality is part of the journey. Offstage, she also dedicates time to supporting other artists especially those who are just beginning helping create spaces where creativity can grow.

Looking ahead, Laura and her band are focused on consistently releasing singles, with a goal of completing a full album next year. They also dream of touring across the Philippines, bringing their music to audiences in different cities and possibly even beyond the country.

“Art is meant to travel,” she said.

When asked how she defines herself beyond the title of musician, Laura gave a simple but powerful answer:

“Different corners, same cube. Titles change, essence doesn't. Creation is my nature. I don't fit in one box I design it.”

And perhaps that captures Laura Jane best not confined by labels, but constantly building new spaces where creativity, faith, and truth can meet.

When There Are No Clients and the Bills Don’t Stop

Let’s talk about the part most creatives don’t post.

There are seasons when inquiries slow down.
When projects stop coming in.
When income becomes unpredictable but expenses don’t.

For artists and business owners, this is one of the heaviest stages. You’re not just protecting a dream anymore. You’re protecting your daily living. Rent, food, family responsibilities, team salaries all while trying to keep your vision alive.

Nakaka-stress. Nakaka-overthink. Nakaka-doubt sa sarili.

You start asking:
“May mali ba sa ginagawa ko?”
“Hindi ba sapat yung skills ko?”
“Dapat na ba akong sumuko?”

But slow seasons do not automatically mean you are failing.
Sometimes they mean you are in transition.
Sometimes they mean you are being forced to refine, reposition, or rebuild.

This is the part where consistency becomes survival.
Not flashy consistency but disciplined, quiet effort.

• Improving your offers
• Reaching out even when it’s uncomfortable
• Adjusting pricing or strategy
• Learning skills that make you more valuable
• Cutting unnecessary costs while protecting your core vision

Hindi madali ang sabay na mag-survive at mag-build. But this stage builds something deeper than income it builds resilience, clarity, and strategic thinking.

At WeloveLokal, we want to remind every struggling creative and business owner: you are not weak for feeling tired. You are human. But don’t let one slow season define your entire journey.

Sometimes the strongest businesses are built in the quietest months.

Kung wala pang clients ngayon, gamitin ang season na ito to strengthen your systems, sharpen your positioning, and reconnect with your purpose.

Because when momentum returns and it will,
you’ll be stronger, wiser, and more prepared.

Hindi ka nag-iisa sa laban na ito.
Keep building. Keep adjusting. Keep believing.

Consistency Is the Real Advantage

Many people believe success comes from talent, luck, or having the “perfect moment.” But in reality, the biggest advantage most successful freelancers, entrepreneurs, artists, and creators share is consistency.

Showing up repeatedly even when motivation is low, even when results are still small, even when no one seems to notice yet — is what slowly builds real momentum. Small actions done daily often create bigger outcomes than occasional bursts of inspiration.

Consistency doesn’t mean moving fast every day. It means continuing, kahit mabagal, kahit simple, kahit maliit lang ang step. Because over time, the person who continues quietly will always move further than the one who waits for perfect timing.

Sa dulo, hindi talent ang laging lamang kundi yung taong tuloy-tuloy lang.
