You can have the nicest time on this Honda! Here's why..
After all the hype has died down and all the habitual online haters have vented their biggest as well as their minutest concerns, I think the new Honda NAVi will be found selling strong and having an almost cult-like following from a wide bandwidth of demographics.
It will be in the purchase decision plans of thousands; from timid newbies both young and old, from the practical budget commuters, from the fun image minded lifestylers, from the mechanically inclined modifiers and builders, and even from long time experienced mature riders who understands the mini-moto experience and culture. The NAVi will serve different purposes.
All of them will be drawn to the NAVi's undeniable value-for-money price that comes with Honda build quality, reliability, spare parts support, and, most importantly, the strong legacy brand image and SATISFACTION that it provides.
Our price here in the Philippines is probably the cheapest in the world at less than the equivalent of 1,000 USD! It's even cheaper than most branded entry level mountain bikes!
The NAVi will not be their best commuter bike, nor will it be the best cruising or touring bike, nor the best sporty bike, not even the best trail bike or off-road bike.
But the NAVi, with the appropriate daily re-calibration of rider expectations and riding speeds, depending on the type of ride or road ahead, can actually do it all. The rides will be fun, economical, and most probably, at a much safer pace for many riders than if they were riding a more complex, or bigger, or more powerful, or heavier and faster bikes. Also, the trips will feel more pleasureable, or more challenging or more engaging and more often will be more memorable.
I also believe that for many, the NAVi will NOT be their ONLY bike. But just another one in their home, to keep them happy and to remind them of the simple joy and pleasures of riding and owning a nice little reliable Honda!
The NAVi demands a modern re-make of that old iconic Beach Boys song. The price alone is reason enough to have a big smile.
