𝗡𝗔𝗩𝗜𝗚𝗔𝗧𝗜𝗡𝗚 𝗔 𝗦𝗨𝗦𝗧𝗔𝗜𝗡𝗔𝗕𝗟𝗘 𝗙𝗨𝗧𝗨𝗥𝗘 𝗙𝗢𝗥 𝗔𝗦𝗘𝗔𝗡 𝗛𝗘𝗥𝗜𝗧𝗔𝗚𝗘 𝗣𝗔𝗥𝗞𝗦

The Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) Member States gathered together as the Philippines, through the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) in partnership with the ASEAN Centre for Biodiversity (ACB), host the first-ever ASEAN Heritage Parks Forum 2026 from September 8 to September 10, as part of the country’s ASEAN chairship.

Around 400 delegates from across the region joined the forum that serves as a venue for learning, collaboration, and innovation among ASEAN Heritage Parks partners, community leaders, policymakers, development partners, and other stakeholders.

MMDA NATURE PARK SA CARMONA, CAVITE BINUKSAN SA PUBLIKO

Pinangunahan ni Executive Secretary Ralph Recto ang inagurasyon ng Metro Manila Development Authority (MMDA) Nature Park sa lungsod ng Carmona ngayong araw, Setyembre 11.

Kasama sina Cavite Fifth District Representative Roy Loyola, at MMDA Chair Atty. Romando Artes, binuksan sa publiko ang Nature Park na kinonvert mula sa isang dating dumpsite.

Ayon kay Recto, patunay ito sa mga posibleng maabot ng mga Pilipino sa pamamagitan ng pagkakaisa at pagtutulungan sa ilalim Bagong Pilipinas ng administrasyon ni Pangulong Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.

BAWAT BARANGAY MAKIKINABANG SA CAVITE

Makikinabang ang lahat ng 829 barangay sa lalawigan ng Cavite sa karagdagang pondong hatid ng pamahalaan sa ilalim ng programang Bawat Bayan Makikinabang.

Pinangunahan ni Executive Secretary Ralph Recto ang pamamahagi ng P200,000 karagdagang pondo sa bawat barangay, mula sa Socio-Civic Projects Fund ng administrasyon ni Pangulong Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr., sa Carmona, Cavite ngayong araw, Setyembre 11.

Sa kanyang mensahe, binigyang-diin ni Recto ang adhikain ni Pangulong Marcos na matiyak na direktang mapakinabangan ng mga komunidad at walang barangay ang maiiwan sa mga proyekto at programang ipinatutupad ng pamahalaan.

Naniniwala si DENR-Biodiversity Management Bureau, Chief Ecosystems Management Specialist Ryan Cuanan na makakatulong ang inilunsad na Philippine ASEAN Heritage Network sa epektibong pangangalaga ng mga ASEAN Heritage Parks at protected areas sa bansa na may malaking ambag sa pagbawas sa epekto ng climate change na nararanasan ng bansa.

Makatutulong din ang PAN sa pagbibigay ng kaalaman at pagpapaigting sa kamalayan ng publiko sa konserbasyon at pagiging katuwang ng pamahalaan sa pangangalaga ng mga likas na yaman sa AHPs at protected areas.

Driven by the Philippines’ 2026 ASEAN chairship and its commitment to global and national environmental targets, the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR), in coordination with the ASEAN Centre for Biodiversity (ACB), formally established the Philippine ASEAN Heritage Parks Network (PAN) to strengthen the protection of natural resources and conservation of the country’s biodiversity.

The Philippines is among the ASEAN member states who are set to receive support for small to micro grants intended to conserve biodiversity in and around ASEAN Heritage Parks and protected areas.

At the launching of the ASEAN Small Grants Programme III (SGP III) on Wednesday, September 9 held as part of the inaugural ASEAN Heritage Parks Forum, the ASEAN Centre for Biodiversity (ACB) announced its support for the improvement of livelihoods and resilience of local communities from 2026-2031 through the grant from the ACB, European Union, and KfW Development Bank of Germany.

ACB said that the implementation site of the SGP III in the country will be at the Balinsasayao Twin Lakes Natural Park which will be used for community-led conservation efforts, and in supporting livelihood projects for local communities.

The ACB also awarded exemplary organizations through the ASEAN Green Initiative, which is an initiative by the ASEAN to plant at least 10 million native trees across member states in a span of 10 years. Two organizations from the country received recognition for medium-scale initiatives, while one project and one local government unit are among those awarded for large-scale initiatives.

The two programs of the ASEAN mirror the vision of the bloc that people’s actions matter, with the commitment to ensuring that the region moves forward with the goal of navigating a sustainable future together. | Photos by Christopher Hedreyda, PIA CALABARZON
