ICYMI: President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. signed the Judicial Fiscal Autonomy Act to boost the judiciary’s fiscal autonomy and accelerate the administration of justice.

Bantay-Lawa is a volunteer group that supports the Laguna Lake Development Authority (LLDA) and the Fisheries and Aquatic Resources Management Council (FARMC) in conserving Laguna Lake. It is likewise authorized in enforcing a fishery ordinance that protects the lake from illegal fishing.

Last August 8, a total of 135 lake keepers received a two-month cash honorarium, in addition to food and non-food packs which includes blankets, mosquito nets, and hygiene supplies.

The Department of Science and Technology (DOST) Calabarzon and DOST Rizal Science and Technology Office launch the Innovation Hub (iHUB) to ignite scientific ideas and fuel technological innovation of students and other stakeholders at the University of Rizal System-Antipolo Campus on Thursday, August 14.

The launching was led by DOST Secretary Renato Solidum Jr. together with DOST Calabarzon Regional Director Emelita P. Bagsit, in partnership with Animo Labs TBI of the DLSU Science Foundation Inc., ICONS South Luzon, PCCI Rizal, and the University of Rizal System (URS).

The DOST iHUB is a space for ideation, collaboration, and testing technology-driven solutions aimed at empowering local communities and fostering inclusive development.

A surveillance technology is now in place to monitor fishing vessels that venture into open waters, the Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR) in CALABARZON said.

Sammy Malvas, Regional Director of BFAR CALABARZON, noted that the Integrated Marine Environment Monitoring System (IMEMS) was developed to monitor illegal, unreported, and unregulated (IUU) fishing in the region’s waters.

LOOK: President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. has signed the Judiciary Fiscal Autonomy Act, ensuring a more efficient and independent judiciary.

The law allows the Supreme Court to submit its budget proposal directly to Congress and empowers the Chief Justice to reallocate funds for urgent needs—such as hiring personnel, repairing courtrooms, or upgrading systems—strengthening the executive’s commitment to work with the judiciary as a co-equal branch of government.

The Department of Science and Technology (DOST) in Calabarzon has officially opened its 2025 Regional Science, Technology, and Innovation Week (RSTW) in CALABARZON this Thursday, August 14, at the Ynares Events Center, Antipolo City, Rizal.

Graced by DOST Secretary Dr. Renato U. Solidum, Jr., DOST Region IV-A Regional Director Emelita P. Bagsit, and other officials from different government agencies, academe, industry partners and other stakeholders, the RSTW 2025 celebrates the role of Science, Technology, and Innovation (STI) in advancing inclusive and sustainable development.

With the theme, “Providing Solutions and Opening Opportunities in the Green Economy: Building Smart and Sustainable Communities,” this year’s celebration highlights the STI’s informative role in supporting green growth, digital innovation, and local resilience.

The three-day event will showcase different regional breakthroughs, collaboration, innovation, science research, discoveries and activities through interactive exhibits, technology demonstrations, forums and competitions aimed at fostering a smarter and more sustainable future of the Calabarzon region.
