Major Hike - 12 Hours Dayhike

It was my first time doing a major hike. I went with friends I met during my Aurora trip, which made the experience even more exciting. I didn’t know exactly what to expect, but I was ready to challenge myself.

The hike to Tarak was no joke. Early on, one of my friends got cramps even before we reached Payapa River, which worried us a bit. But surprisingly, naka-recover siya and was still able to catch up with us all the way to the summit. That alone made the experience even more memorable.

The trail itself was beautiful and diverse, there were rocky paths, flat sections, endless ascents, and parts where the ground was purely soil with lots of roots to step on. It became especially challenging after Tarak Ridge since the ascent got much steeper. Definitely a test of endurance.

Going down was a different story. My knees took most of the pressure HAAHAAHAHA. We were also able to rest for quite a while at Payapa River while waiting for another group who were also with us in the van service. It turned out that one of them got seriously injured. We just waited for them at the jump-off, and we only left Mariveles at around past 20:00.

It was a different kind of experience — extremely tiring and unli pawis talaga HAHAHAHAHAAAA but also incredibly fulfilling and definitely worth it! A different kind of adventure that pushed my limits and gave me a deeper appreciation for hiking.
