VP SARA, KAKASUHAN SANA SI TRILLANES NGUNIT PROTEKTADO UMANO NG ADMINISTRASYONG MARCOS—PANELO Malugod sanang kakasuhan ni Vice President Sara Duterte si dating Sen. Antonio Trillanes IV dahil sa mga tinawag na kasinungalingan laban sa kanyang pamilya, ayon sa tagapagsalita niyang si Atty. Paolo Panelo. Gayunman, iginiit ni Panelo na pinoprotektahan umano ng administrasyong Marcos ang mga nagpapakalat ng naturang mga alegasyon. “The Vice President would gladly sue him for these endless fabrications, but we have already witnessed how those who actively peddle malicious lies against her and her family are openly protected and propped up by this administration,” ani Panelo. Kasunod ang pahayag ng press conference ni Trillanes noong Oktubre 2 tungkol sa umano’y kuwestiyonableng pinagmulan ng pera ng pamilya Duterte. Binatikos din ni Panelo ang pag-atras nito bilang testigo sa impeachment trial. Nauna namang sinabi ni Trillanes na hiniling niyang alisin ang kanyang pangalan upang maibsan umano ang “pressure” sa prosekusyon. Ayon kay Panelo, hahayaan ng bise presidente na magsalita ang ebidensiya sa impeachment court at handa ang kanyang depensa na sagutin ang mga alegasyon.

Paolo Panelo Jr., tagapagsalita ni Vice President Sara Duterte, ang pagpili ni dating Sen. Antonio Trillanes IV na ilahad sa press conference ang kanyang mga alegasyon matapos umatras bilang testigo sa impeachment trial. “Instead of defending his claims under oath, he chose the comfort of a safe and scripted press conference where his lies could once again go unchallenged,” ani Panelo sa pahayag nitong Oktubre 3. Ayon kay Panelo, pagkakataon sana ng depensa na masuri sa cross-examination ang mga pahayag ni Trillanes laban sa pamilya Duterte. Tinawag niyang “black propaganda” ang mga alegasyon at iginiit na handa ang kampo ng bise presidente na sagutin ang mga ito sa impeachment court. “Her defense team stands ready to refute whatever Trillanes accusation the prosecution believes is even credible enough for the Court’s serious consideration,” saad niya. Matatandaang sinabi ni Trillanes na siya mismo ang humiling na alisin sa listahan ng mga testigo upang maibsan umano ang “pressure” sa prosekusyon. Sa press conference niya inilabas ang mga alegasyon hinggil sa yaman at mga transaksiyong pinansiyal na iniuugnay niya sa pamilya Duterte. “This way, the prosecution panel would be relieved from the pressure it is going through,” paliwanag ni Trillanes. Gayunman, sinabi ni lead prosecutor Rep. Gerville Luistro: “I don’t know any. Wala po akong alam na ganyang pressure coming from senators.”
