The recent tragedy in Tacloban has left us all grieving. Our prayers and heartfelt condolences are with the victims, their families, and everyone affected.
For decades, whenever a heartbreaking act of violence happens, one of the ๐๐๐ง๐จ๐ฉ ๐ฉ๐๐๐ฃ๐๐จ ๐๐ก๐๐ข๐๐ ๐๐จ ๐ซ๐๐๐๐ค ๐๐๐ข๐๐จ. This is the very question our founder, ๐๐ค๐ง๐, answered during a Vice Mayorโs session in 2023 when asked if gaming was the reason students and minors were becoming a problem for parents.

We also recognize the responsibility of game developers, who continue to improve player safety through age ratings, parental controls, reporting systems, moderation, and tools that encourage healthy and responsible gaming. ๐ง๐ต๐ฒ๐ ๐ฐ๐ฟ๐ฒ๐ฎ๐๐ฒ ๐ด๐ฎ๐บ๐ฒ๐ ๐ฏ๐๐ ๐๐ต๐ฒ๐ ๐ฑ๐ผ ๐ป๐ผ๐ ๐ฟ๐ฎ๐ถ๐๐ฒ ๐ฐ๐ต๐ถ๐น๐ฑ๐ฟ๐ฒ๐ป.
What gaming does provide is something many people never see.
For countless young people, ๐ด๐ฎ๐บ๐ฒ๐ ๐ฎ๐ฟ๐ฒ ๐ฎ ๐๐ฎ๐ณ๐ฒ ๐๐ฝ๐ฎ๐ฐ๐ฒ. They become a place to escape loneliness, find genuine friendships, build confidence, develop teamwork and leadership, and, for some, survive depression by connecting with people who remind them they are not alone. Esports has changed lives, opened careers, created scholars, produced national athletes, and inspired thousands of young Filipinos to dream bigger.
That is why we call on our government, schools, private institutions, and communities to support esports and youth gaming initiatives. Supporting these programs means investing in mentorship, education, digital literacy, mental health awareness, leadership development, and safe spaces where young people can grow with purpose instead of being left without direction.
