JUNE 5, 2025 — Demonstrating a commitment to excellence, integrity, and transparency, eighteen (18) graduates from the School of Accountancy at Divine Word College of Calapan were conferred their degrees during the DWCC 79th Commencement Exercises, marking a pivotal step in their pursuit of the Certified Public Accountant (CPA) licensure.

The said Commencement Rites anchored with the theme "DWCC Graduates: Championing Catholic Faith and Embracing a Culture of Sentivity and Respect" attended by 433 graduates was held at the DWCC Gymnasium.

𝐑𝐄𝐒𝐔𝐋𝐓𝐒 𝐀𝐑𝐄 𝐎𝐔𝐓 | With an overall passing rate of 𝟖𝟒.𝟐𝟏% (𝟏𝟔/𝟏𝟗), surpassing the national passing rate of 𝟑𝟑.𝟏𝟏% (𝟑,𝟏𝟓𝟔/𝟗,𝟓𝟑𝟑), 16 newly licensed accountants from Divine Word College of Calapan (DWCC) aced the May 2025 Licensure for Certified Public Accountants (LECPA), held on May 25-27.

The examination results were released by the PRC Board of Accountancy after five working days, marking the success of the examinees in becoming certified public accountants.

A wave of excitement and pride filled the Audio-Visual Room as School of Accountancy (SOA) in partnership with LVL UP CPA Review Center honored its top-performing students at the Mockboard Examination Awarding Ceremony for this semester, May 20, 2025.

The event was more than just a recognition of topnotchers, it was a celebration of resilience and shared journey toward becoming Certified Public Accountants.

Further, the ceremony, hosted by Marie Philthea Dimacali and John Denver Mañibo, kicked off with an inspiring opening remarks from the Mockboard Chairperson, Mrs. Criselle Magdalita, CPA, MBA. “This is not only the celebration of topnotchers but also a celebration of hard work,” she emphasized, setting the tone for an afternoon that honored both achievement and effort.

The highlight of the day was the awarding of topnotchers with certificates and personalized medals, having several students standing out for their exceptional performance in:

The overall topnotchers shared heartfelt messages that resonated with the audience:

𝟏𝐬𝐭 𝐎𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐚𝐥𝐥 𝐓𝐨𝐩𝐧𝐨𝐭𝐜𝐡𝐞𝐫:
Genesis S. Casa, who once retook a major subject during his first year summer but managed to rise above the odds, stood profoundly with multiple medals. He thanked God, his friend Charles, his classmates, and the faculty for their support and guidance. “Last 5 months nalang, magiging CPA na tayo,” he declared, inspiring his peers to keep pushing forward.

𝟐𝐧𝐝 𝐎𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐚𝐥𝐥 𝐓𝐨𝐩𝐧𝐨𝐭𝐜𝐡𝐞𝐫:
Tria Sherae M. De Castro, expressed her gratitude to her friends and classmates, acknowledging their unwavering support throughout her journey.

𝟑𝐫𝐝 𝐎𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐚𝐥𝐥 𝐓𝐨𝐩𝐧𝐨𝐭𝐜𝐡𝐞𝐫:
Gene Christelle B. Espiritu, thanked the faculty, saying, “Lahat ng natutunan namin, babaunin namin hanggang board exam,” and also recognized her friends for being part of her college experience

Moreover, a dedicated team of DWCC CPAs prepared the mock board examination, designed to mirror the rigor of the actual CPA board:

Early bird awards were also given to students who came early during the three-day examination proper, recognizing their consistency and dedication.

In line, Krizia Maravilla, Batch Representative took the stage to thank the faculty for never giving up on them.

On the other hand, Dean Mary Jane Bautista, CPA, MBA also delivered a powerful message, urging students to apply the Kaizen principle: “In order to win the war, pagtagumpayan muna natin ang mga small battles.” They were also reminded by Atty. Ma. Ellen Abas, CPA, “We start and end this journey with a prayer.”

The ceremony concluded with a 12-minute video montage featuring messages from accountancy students, faculty members, and teachers who guided the students during their review. The video served as a reminder of the strong bonds formed and the collective effort that brought them to this milestone.

As the ceremony drew to a close, it was clear that the Mockboard Examination Awarding Ceremony was more than just an event—it was a testament to the power of perseverance, teamwork, and the unwavering support of a community united by a common goal.

For these aspiring CPAs, the journey is far from over, but with the lessons learned and the bonds strengthened, they are more than ready to face the challenges ahead and further strive to “Be the Best They Can Be”.

UP Los Baños – 𝗝𝘂𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗶 𝗔𝗯𝗮𝗹𝗼𝘀, First Year from Divine Word College of Calapan (DWCC) School of Accountancy (SOA) made a remarkable showing at the PICPA Southern Tagalog Regional Accounting Quiz Bowl held at the University of the Philippines Los Baños, April 30, 2025.

At the 3rd Accounting Students Research Festival, 𝐃𝐖𝐂𝐂 𝐒𝐎𝐀 𝐒𝐞𝐜𝐮𝐫𝐞𝐬 𝟐𝐧𝐝 𝐑𝐮𝐧𝐧𝐞𝐫-𝐔𝐩 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐌𝐨𝐬𝐭 𝐅𝐁 𝐄𝐧𝐠𝐚𝐠𝐞𝐝 𝐀𝐰𝐚𝐫𝐝

Divine Word College of Calapan (DWCC) School of Accountancy (SOA) secured 2nd Runner Up and Most FB Engaged Award at the 3rd Accounting Students Research Festival — Research Poster Competition organized by the Philippine Institute of Certified Public Accountants (PICPA) Committee on Research and Development, March 22.

The DWCC’s research, "Leadership Experience and Career Advancement of Bachelor of Science in Accountancy Graduates," conducted by Mark Deo B. Aboboto, Ofeleth C. Labay, and Ma. Carmela A. Ruado, has garnered around 5,600 post engagements, earning the Most FB Engaged Award—Top 1.

With the theme "Developing Students' Ethical and Professional Values through Research", the event occurred from March 8 till 22, 2025, with 57 entries from various schools across the Philippines. The research was focused on the leadership experiences and career progression of accountancy graduates, identifying key factors that contribute to their professional success, highlighting the significance of leadership skills and professional development in advancing the careers of accountancy graduates.

The Accounting Research Poster Making Contest was organized to promote ethical and professional values among students through research. By encouraging students to engage in meaningful studies, the contest encouraged a greater appreciation of the ethical obligations and professional standards expected in the accounting profession.

𝐀𝐍𝐃 𝐓𝐇𝐄 𝐂𝐑𝐎𝐖𝐍 𝐆𝐎𝐄𝐒 𝐓𝐎 | The perfect blend of wit and beauty that Ms. Stephanie Tubo, the Ambassadress of Goodwill 2025 from the house of Gryffindor answered her personal opinion about the theme "Precision and Passion: The Heart of Accountancy".

She explained that precision, to her, represents focus—specifically, the clarity and attention she dedicates to her values. Passion, on the other hand, is the driving force behind her actions and beliefs. She connects these values to her personal advocacy for mental health, highlighting how crucial it is to support mental well-being, especially in the challenging field of Accountancy.

Having experienced both the successes and struggles that come with being an Accountancy student, she is determined to use her platform to encourage others to prioritize their mental health. She believes that a healthy mind is key to achieving long-term success and hopes her message will inspire others in the field to take care of themselves as they pursue their careers.

𝐂𝐑𝐎𝐖𝐍𝐈𝐍𝐆 𝐈𝐍𝐓𝐄𝐆𝐑𝐈𝐓𝐘 | During Acco-Week's pageant, Marc Jabbes S. Viñas, representing Gryffindor, was crowned Ambassador of Goodwill 2025. In his heartfelt moment, he shared his belief in the importance of holding on to one's values and of living with integrity day by day, especially as an accountant.

“Ang isang Ambassador of Goodwill ay dapat manindigan para sa sariling kagustuhan at ipakita ang katapatan sa pang-araw-araw na buhay,” Jabbes explained, leaving everyone with a deep impression.

His words touched hearts and reminded future CPAs that honesty and integrity are not just ideals but a way of life.

𝐂𝐑𝐈𝐌𝐒𝐎𝐍 𝐒𝐓𝐑𝐈𝐃𝐄𝐒 | With the lights dimmed, the music swelling, and the crowd holding its breath, the newly crowned Ambassador and Ambassadress of Goodwill 2025 took their first walk at the Acco-Week 2025 pageant. Clad in striking red, the color of passion and power, they turned the stage into a sea of crimson brilliance. This wasn’t just a walk—it was a moment frozen in time, a triumph of determination, elegance, and glory.

Marc Jabbes Viñas, crowned Ambassador of Goodwill 2025, took the stage with a presence so commanding it sent shivers down people's spines. His steps vibrated with the same integrity, strength, and courage that define Gryffindor. Together with him, Stephanie Tubo, the Ambassadress of Goodwill 2025, glided as if time stood still, with each walk filled with the strength and determination carrying the Gryffindor's honor.
