LOOK | In an atmosphere of solemnity and spiritual renewal, the Faculty of Liceo de Calauan came together for the Faculty Holy Hour held on July 16 at 1:00 PM. The sacred gathering began with the praying of the Holy Rosary at the church, led by the Campus Youth Ministry (CYM) Coordinator, in honor of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel, whose feast is a reminder of Mary's maternal guidance and protection.

After the Rosary, the faculty proceeded to the Adoration Chapel for a meaningful Holy Hour, offering a time of silent adoration before the Blessed Sacrament. A profound moment followed with the reading of the Holy Gospel, after which the faculty shared reflections—drawing wisdom and spiritual strength from the Word of God, and renewing their commitment to be Christ-centered educators.

This sacred gathering was also graced by the presence of our devoted School Principal, Mrs. Connie R. Gapasan, whose continuous support for spiritual enrichment activities greatly strengthens the mission and identity of the Licean community.

May this time of prayer, reflection, and Eucharistic adoration draw the faculty ever closer to Christ and deepen their vocation as educators anchored in faith, compassion, and service.

A Small Gift That Can Build BIG HOPE - In-kind Donation Drive for Mangyan Students

Through the initiative of the school, and in partnership with BolunTurismo PH, Liceans from all departments donated various school supplies—collected by the Supreme Secondary Learner Government—for the Mangyan learners of Occidental Mindoro under the Surat Mangyan Project 2025.

As members of the Catholic faith, practicing works of charity is essential in shaping students’ hearts and minds. These acts not only allow them to become instruments of God’s love but also help uplift their fellow Filipinos by providing educational materials that serve as tools in attaining quality education for the betterment of society.

This meaningful activity has been an opportunity to cultivate empathy and awareness among Liceans while also extending a helping hand to fellow students in need. We are very proud of our alumni who made this charity work possible.

On July 4, 2025, the APTA Executive Board Officers and the Supreme Secondary Learner Government of Liceo de Calauan participated in a seminar facilitated by the VAWC (Violence Against Women and their Children) Desk Officers of the Municipality of Calauan. The seminar aimed to educate student leaders about their rights under Republic Act No. 9262, also known as the Anti-VAWC Act.

The event was led by Hon. Nayda C. Coronado, President of the Association of VAWC Desk Officers of Calauan, Laguna, along with representatives from various barangays. In collaboration with Mrs. Connie R. Gapasan, head of Liceo de Calauan, the initiative served as a meaningful partnership that significantly benefited the student participants.

Throughout the seminar, Hon. Coronado and fellow VAWC Desk Officers discussed the various factors that contribute to the violation of women’s and children's rights. Emphasis was placed on the role of family relationships and communication in preventing abuse and promoting a safer environment.

As a result of this seminar, participants are expected to not only gain awareness of the law and its implications but also share this knowledge with their peers to help foster a more informed and vigilant student community.

Rizal — The Undying Legacy of a Patriot

"I wish to show those who deny us patriotism, that we know how to die for our country and convictions." — Dr. Jose Rizal

June 19, 2025 — Today, we commemorate the birth of our national hero, a man who helped shape and free his country through his unwavering dedication to his people. He showed them the importance of loving their fatherland, just as he did.

Dr. Jose P. Rizal is known as the man who fought with words rather than swords. He exposed the abuses and injustices of the Spanish colonial government and proved that knowledge is as powerful as force.

Today, the Philippines celebrates his 164th birthday. One hundred sixty-four years since his birth, and still, the people he once fought for continue to honor him for his undying love for this country.

One act of patriotism made him unforgettable — a man remembered and honored by the nation he helped awaken. He once inspired his people to fight for their homeland, and to this day, he continues to inspire through the legacy he left behind.

Yet today, we see a growing lack of devotion to our country. The Philippines, once fought for by heroes, is being neglected — taken for granted. The patriotism that Rizal and our ancestors once held is slowly fading with each generation.

Rizal has already shown us the fruits of his labor. The legacy he left is not just something to admire from a distance. It is a foundation — a path we must walk. It is a legacy we must not only study, but embody and act upon.

That is the true meaning of the legacy of the patriot, Dr. Jose Rizal.
