Aspiring campus journalists of The Pineapple Today sharpened their writing skills and strengthened their commitment to ethical journalism during the PEN-apple CROWNicles Training Camp with the theme, "Ink and Integrity: Unveiling Stories that Matter," held from 8:00 A.M. to 5:00 P.M. on August 1, 2026, at Liceo de Calauan.

Serving as the resource speaker, Mr. Albert R. Castillo conducted in-depth discussions on News Writing, Feature Writing, and Science and Technology Writing, equipping participants with the essential knowledge and techniques required in each category. Through interactive lectures and writing exercises, student journalists strengthened their skills in identifying newsworthy events, crafting engaging feature stories, and presenting scientific and technological topics with clarity and accuracy. The training likewise reinforced the values of integrity, fairness, and ethical journalism in campus reporting.

Simultaneously, the publication's layout artists underwent specialized training under the guidance of Mr. John Paulo A. Gutierrez. The session focused on enhancing participants' skills in publication layout and design, emphasizing creativity, visual storytelling, typography, page composition, and the effective use of design principles to produce engaging and professional-looking campus publications.

The activity aimed to strengthen the journalistic competencies of campus writers and layout artists by enhancing their technical skills, critical thinking, creativity, and commitment to delivering truthful, relevant, impactful, and visually compelling stories.

The training forms part of The Pineapple Today's continuing efforts to equip its students with the knowledge and skills necessary to uphold the standards of responsible campus journalism and prepare them for future journalism competitions and publication work.

In line with the implementation of OPLAN Balik-Eskwela School Year 2026-2027 and the intensification of public safety and preventive measures in response to recent school-related incidents, the Calauan Municipal Police Station conducted a simulation exercise at Liceo de Calauan.

Grades 11 and 12 students of Liceo de Calauan participated in the Department of Education's Literacy and Numeracy Assessment, which evaluated students' competencies in English, Filipino and Mathematics.

The assessment was conducted to determine students' proficiency in reading comprehension, language skills, and numeracy. The results will serve as basis for planning appropriate academic interventions and instructional strategies to further support student learning and achievement.

This assessment reflects Liceo de Calauan's continued commitment to fostering academic excellence by strengthening learners' foundational skills in English, Filipino, and Mathematics, preparing them for greater success in their educational journey.

Liceo de Calauan held its First Friday Mass, bringing together students, faculty, staff, and parents in prayer and thanksgiving. The Eucharistic celebration was presided over by Rev. Fr. Eduardo "Alphonsus" Sabarillo, who reminded the Licean community of the importance of faith, responsibility, and selfless service.

Following the Holy Mass, the school conducted the Oath-Taking Ceremony for the newly elected SELG/SSLG Officers, Homeroom Class Officers, Club Officers, and the APTA Executive Board. In the presence of God and the entire Licean community, the newly inducted officers solemnly took their oath, promising to faithfully perform the duties and responsibilities of their respective positions. They pledged to lead with integrity, accountability, and a genuine commitment to serving the school and their fellow Liceans.

The ceremony formally marked the beginning of their leadership journey, reflecting Liceo de Calauan's commitment to forming Christ-centered leaders who exemplify excellence, discipline, and servant leadership.

The school community extends its congratulations to all newly inducted officers and prays for God's guidance and wisdom as they carry out their respective roles throughout the academic year.
