WORLD DAY OF REMEMBRANCE (WDoR) 2025 R.A. 11468
Every year, millions of lives are shattered by road traffic tragedies, families torn apart, dreams lost in an instant, lives forever changed. Since the very first recorded road death, over 50 million lives have been claimed, and hundreds of millions more have been injured. These numbers are not just statistics, they are stories of heartbreak, hope, and the urgent need for change.
On this 2025 World Day of Remembrance for Road Traffic Victims (WDoR2025), observed each year on the third Sunday of November, we come together to honor those we've lost, to remember their stories, and to raise our voices for safer roads. This day is a powerful reminder that behind every statistic is a human life, a loved one, a parent, a child, a friend.
In the Philippines, we've taken a vital step forward through the enactment of Republic Act No. 11468, the "World Day of Remembrance for Road Traffic Victims Act," a law that commits us to recognizing the gravity of this issue and to working together to prevent future tragedies. It’s a call to action, an acknowledgment that safety on the roads is a shared responsibility.
This year, our campaign is about more than statistics. It’s about stories, stories of individuals whose lives changed forever in an instant. Their experiences remind us of the preciousness of life and the urgent need for us all to be more cautious, more caring, more responsible.
Let us honor their memories by pledging to make our roads safer, for ourselves, our loved ones, and our communities. Because every life matters, and together, we can make a difference.
