The heroes of our past fought for the freedom we enjoy today. They carried the torch of courage, sacrifice, and patriotism to build a nation that future generations could call their own.

Today, that same torch is carried by our modern-day heroes like teachers who shape young minds, healthcare workers who save lives, and community volunteers who extend a helping hand without expecting anything in return. Their battles may not be fought on the battlefield, but in classrooms, hospitals, and communities where hope is needed most.

As we celebrate Independence Day, let us remember that heroism is not confined to history books. It lives in the everyday acts of public service that strengthen our nation.

Freedom was won by heroes of the past. The future is being built by the heroes among us.

Brigada Eskwela is not just about cleaning our classrooms and school facilities. Rather, it is about fostering unity and instilling the values of cooperation and interconnectedness among students. It shows us what it means to be a member of a community, and how our collective effort can drive progress and prosperity. The program should not be merely viewed as just the act of sweeping floors, nor wiping windows, but instead be regarded as a custom that emphasizes the importance of community-building and collaboration.
โ€Ž
โ€ŽBeyond cleanliness, Brigada Eskwela provides a way for students to socially interact and get to know their prospective classmates early on. This sets the essential foundation for teamwork and interpersonal connections even before classes officially begin, as familiarity among students helps them to communicate more clearly, overcome challenges, and achieve their academic goals more efficiently. Additionally, the program teaches the valuable lesson of personal responsibility, as the students' own efforts and actions are directly reflected by the condition of their classrooms once classes begin.
โ€Ž
โ€ŽIn summary, Brigada Eskwela is a multifaceted initiative that should continue to be embraced not just as a simple tradition, but as a reflection of the values necessary for a thriving and productive society. Through collective effort and responsibly assuming one's duties, students learn lessons that prepare them to become diligent contributors to a brighter future for our community.

Maypajonians successfully launched the first day of the Brigada Eskwela on June 1, 2026. It was the commencement of the week-long series of activities spanning from June 1 to 5, 2026 that serve as preparation for the new school year. These activities include classroom cleaning, facilities repairs, resource mobilization and other preparations to ensure a safe and conducive learning environment for the opening of classes. This yearโ€™s theme โ€œBayanihan sa Paaralan: Nagkakaisa Para sa Kaayusan at Kaalamanโ€ fully embodies the spirit of unity and volunteerism. โ€Ž

The event started with a colorful parade led by the Senior Scouts, together with the Maypajo High School faculty members and administration, stakeholders, partners, students, parents and volunteers. โ€Ž

After the parade, the opening program began with the singing of the National Anthem conducted by Mr. Jasper Adrian T. Orlina of the MAPEH Department, followed by a prayer led by the SSLG President, Stacey Dela Cruz. Shortly after, Dr. Raymundo P. Sandagon delivered his welcoming remarks, assuring everyone that every program implemented is for the benefit of every individual in Maypajo High School. He also encouraged and thanked everyone for continued support and cooperation.

Following this, the new Public Schools Supervisor, Ms. Maricris N. Surigao, delivered her speech ending with the SDO mantra "Basta Together, CalooCAN, We Pray, We Care, We Rise!" โ€Ž โ€ŽRecognizing the spirit of volunteerism, Maypajo High School welcomed its partners, thanking them for their enduring support and valuable assistance in advancing the schoolโ€™s goals.

After the acknowledgment of partners, the Brigada Coordinator, Ms. Kaidee Mae H. Mauleon, led the Pledge of Commitment followed by the signing of the Commitment Pledge by the stakeholders and partners. โ€Ž โ€Ž

To conclude the program, the Head of the MAPEH Department, Dr. Beverly Saldaรฑa-Bernabe, delivered the closing remarks, thanking everyone for their support, dedication, and time in preparing for the School Year 2026โ€“2027.

The day continued on to the Brigada Proper where all volunteers proceeded to their respective classrooms and designated areas to begin cleaning and repair activities, marking the official start of the schools Brigada Eskwela efforts.
