Day 4: Good Morning Kyoto and Uji. Today is matcha day! And also, it’s my friend’s first time in Kyoto and Uji…
First thing in the morning, lets go to Starbucks Ninenzaka. We were suppose to go to Fushimi Inari but it’s raining so change of plan…and here we are…ordered hot chai tea latte…and oh my it’s really good a good 9/10… masarap, kinda sweet na may minty side..hirap iexplain but it’s really good… the place and ambiance 9/10… maganda yung place, and they really preserved the ancient Kyoto look..and they are the first Starbucks with tatami so most tourists wanted to experience it. Yun lang madami nang tao, and for the tatami experience, you really have to fall in line and wait kasi limited lang sya.
While we’re bound to Uji, we came across Hatoya… 10/10… you can see my friend in her “Happy Element” you can really tell it’s good.
After namin makasakay ng maling train at maglakad at sumakay ulit ng train, finally we reached Uji.. it’s raining so hindi na kami maxado nakaikot so we went directly to the Tsujiri main branch since I want my friend to experience the authentic Tsujiri.. For the place and ambiance 7/10… don’t get me wrong, maganda naman, it’s just that it’s really crowded with locals and tourists…tapos maliit lang yung shop…may café kasi sya sa loob, and if you wanted to experience it, you need to put your name on the list near the order counter. Sad to say walang matcha latte but I ordered the Sweetened Matcha green tea w/ matcha ice cream ( 10/10)… it’s rich it’s flavourful… my friend ordered Rich Matcha Smoothie and yes ( 10/10)… iba talaga pag sa authentic store…masarap..
From Uji, we rushed back to Kyoto kasi hinabol talaga namin yung Nishiki Market kasi yung shop na Sugi Bee Garden.. it’s always a go to.. the service, free taste 10/10… it’s really refreshing, and I’m a fan of the Honey Yuzu… must try (and take home too!!)
Dahil most of the shops in Nishiki Market closes at 6:30pm, hindi na nahabol yung wagyu gyoza..we just walked around and came across a shop, di ko na tanda name… 50% off kasi inuubos nalang nila paninda nila..as what I’ve said before, Japanese don’t like wasting food.. kaya ayun..yun nalang buy namin for our lunch..hahaha imagine, 6:30pm lunch palang namin hahaha ang lala… egg roll with cheese was just fine.. maybe 7/10
551 Horai is really famous in Kyoto/Osaka…hindi talaga pwedeng hindi matry.. the first time I tried it Aug 2023, hindi ko na makalimutan ang lasa.. luckily meron around Daimaru near Nishiki market.. bumili na kami… smells soo good.. kaso no place to eat, so inuwi nalang namin to our hotel… then went to Sukiya for take home too… wala, lahat masarap…hahaha 3 cheese gyudon 10/10, 551 Horai Gyoza 10/10, 551 Horai Pork Bun 8/10 (masarap pero much better pag kinain habang mainit) but still its juicy.. unang kagat, may pork agad!!! 551 Horai Pork Siomai 7/10 masarap, pero hindi ko maexplain…mas masarap siguro yung pork with shrimp..
Overall, Day 4, tiring yet rewarding!!!
