Show me your home and I will know what kind of Catholic you are.
One of the important realizations that I gained by doing house to house visit and evangelization in our community is that many are really not deep in undersranding their Catholic teachings.
The most common sign that Catholics are not really deep in their understanding of doctrine is the practice of superstitions/"pamahiin".
I saw many Catholic families keeping lucky charms at their homes: feng shui, laurel, santo niño dela suerte, etc.
This practice is clearly prohibited by our catechism because they imply lack of trust in the providence of God.
I am really convinced based on what I see whnever I visit homes that serious program of evangelization and catecheses are needed in the Catholic Church. P*P II has suggested that doing BECs is the best way to do this in the context of the Philippine Church.
