Agad na nag-isyu ng Show Cause Order (SCO) ang Land Transportation Office (LTO) laban sa rehistradong may-ari at drayber ng isang puting Nissan Patrol na sangkot sa isang nakamamatay na aksidente sa Makati City nitong madaling-araw.

Ayon sa paunang imbestigasyon ng Vehicular Traffic Investigation Unit (VTIU) ng Makati City Police Station, diumano’y nagbanggaan ang isang motorsiklo at isang Nissan Patrol habang binabagtas ang kahabaan ng Gil Puyat Avenue sa Makati City, na nagresulta sa pagkakatilapon ng rider ng motorsiklo at pagkakatamo nito ng matinding pinsala. Naisugod ang biktima sa Makati Medical Center, ngunit kalaunan ay idineklarang dead on arrival.

Samantala, nagsagawa ng hiwalay na imbestigasyon ang LTO matapos na unang lumabas sa social media ang mga ulat at video na nagpapakita umano ng mapanganib na pagmamaneho ng naturang Nissan Patrol sa Mercedes Avenue, Pasig City bago ang insidente.

Kabilang sa mga iniulat na paglabag ang mabilis na pagpapatakbo, biglaang paglipat ng lane nang walang signal, ilegal na pag-overtake, at posibleng paglabag sa number coding scheme.

Dahil dito, inaatasan ng LTO ang rehistradong may-ari at drayber ng Nissan Patrol na humarap sa Intelligence and Investigation Division (IID) ng ahensya sa Mayo 28, 2026 upang magsumite ng sinumpaang salaysay at magpaliwanag kaugnay ng insidente.

Agad ding ipinag-utos ng LTO ang pagsuko ng lisensya ng drayber, na sasailalim sa 90-araw na preventive suspension habang nagpapatuloy ang imbestigasyon. Inilagay rin sa alarm status ang naturang sasakyan.

β€œNakikiramay kami sa pamilya ng nasawi sa insidenteng ito. Kasabay nito, nais naming tiyakin sa publiko na hindi palalampasin ng LTO ang anumang uri ng iresponsableng pagmamaneho na naglalagay sa panganib ng buhay ng kapwa motorista at mga ordinaryong mamamayan. Kung mapatutunayang may paglabag, sisiguraduhin naming maipapataw ang kaukulang mabigat na parusa alinsunod sa umiiral na batas,” ani ni LTO Chief, Assistant Secretary Markus V. Lacanilao.

Patuloy na nakikipag-ugnayan ang LTO sa iba pang awtoridad upang matiyak ang masusing imbestigasyon sa insidente, habang ipinagpapatuloy ang mahigpit na kampanya laban sa mapanganib at iresponsableng pagmamaneho upang maprotektahan ang kaligtasan ng publiko sa mga lansangan.

Naghain ng plunder case ang health advocate na si Dr. Tony Leachon laban kay Executive Secretary Ralph Recto at iba pang gabinete hinggil sa kontrobersyal na paglilipat ng β‚±60 bilyong excess funds ng PhilHealth patungo sa National Treasury.

Saad ni Leachon sa media nitong Lunes, Mayo 25, 2026, maituturing na "betrayal of people's right" ang nangyaring pagbabalik ng excess funds ng PhilHealth.

"These P60 billion [PhilHealth] funds, meant for indigent families and primary care, were stripped of their rightful purpose, betraying the people's right to health. PhilHealth [already] P356.6 billion deficit left hospitals unpaid, cancer and dialysis programs starved and millions of Filipinos abandoned," ani Leachon.

Binira din ni Leachon ang planong restoration sa naturang β‚±60 bilyong excess funds at iginiit na huli na raw ito para tugunan ang lumalalang sitwasyon sa healthcare ng bansa.

"The so-called 'restoration' of β‚±60B in [the] 2026 budget was a hollow gesture-too late for families already buried in debt, too late for patients who never received care," giit ni Leachon.
