PAG-UULAT SA MAMAMAYAN: Deklarasyon ng State of Calamity sa Tarlac

Dahil sa patuloy na malalakas na pag-ulan at malawakang pagbaha dulot ng Habagat, opisyal na nating isinalalim sa State of Calamity ang buong probinsya ng Tarlac.

Alam natin ang bigat ng dinaranas ng ating mga kababayan—mula sa nasirang mga pananim at kabuhayan, hanggang sa pagkapinsala ng mahahalagang daanan tulad ng Ninoy Aquino Bridge at Agana Bridge.

Ang deklarasyong ito ay magbibigay-daan upang agad nating magamit ang kinakailangang pondo para sa mas mabilis na relief operations, pagkukumpuni ng mga imprastraktura, at pag-alalay sa bawat pamilyang naapektuhan.

Sa panahong ito ng pagsubok, walang Tarlaqueñong maiiwan. Manatili po tayong ligtas, alerto, at magkatuwang sa pagbangon.

Stop glorifying Filipino resilience.

We should not be proud of how well Filipinos survive problems that should have been prevented in the first place.

Resilience is not a replacement for good governance. “Filipinos are resilient” should not be used to cover poor planning, failed flood control, and lack of accountability.

We do not need to be more resilient. We need a government that does its job.

ORATIO IMPERATA FOR DELIVERANCE FROM CALAMITIES

Almighty Father, we raise our hearts to You
in gratitude for the wonders of creation of which we are part,
for Your providence in sustaining us in our needs,
and for Your wisdom that guides the course of the universe.

We acknowledge our sins against You and the rest of creation.
We have not been good stewards of Nature.
We have confused Your command to subdue the earth.
The environment is made to suffer our wrongdoing,
and now we reap the harvest of our abuse and indifference.

Typhoons, heavy rains and floods occur in increasing number and intensity.
We turn to You, our loving Father, and beg forgiveness for our sins.
We ask that we, our loved ones and our hard earned possessions
be spared from the threat of calamities, natural and man-made.

We beseech You to inspire us all to grow
into responsible stewards of Your creation,
and generous neighbors to those in need.
Amen.
