𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗰𝗹𝗼𝘀𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘀𝗲𝗴𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗼𝗳 𝗘𝗮𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗻 𝗦𝗮𝗺𝗮𝗿 𝗦𝘁𝗮𝘁𝗲 𝗨𝗻𝗶𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗶𝘁𝘆–Can-avid Campus’ 𝟲𝟭𝘀𝘁 𝗖𝗼𝗺𝗺𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗘𝘅𝗲𝗿𝗰𝗶𝘀𝗲𝘀 unfolded as a powerful and emotional culmination of years of academic dedication, as 𝟲𝟴𝟵 𝗴𝗿𝗮𝗱𝘂𝗮𝘁𝗲𝘀 were formally presented by𝗗𝗿. 𝗚𝗲𝗿𝗼𝗻𝗶𝗺𝗼 𝗘𝗹𝗹𝗮𝗱𝗼.

The graduating class was composed of students from the different colleges of the university: 𝗖𝗼𝗹𝗹𝗲𝗴𝗲 𝗼𝗳 𝗘𝗱𝘂𝗰𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 (𝗖𝗼𝗘𝗱) 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝟭𝟳𝟰 𝗴𝗿𝗮𝗱𝘂𝗮𝘁𝗲𝘀, 𝗖𝗼𝗹𝗹𝗲𝗴𝗲 𝗼𝗳 𝗔𝗴𝗿𝗶𝗰𝘂𝗹𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲 (𝗖𝗼𝗔) 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝟭𝟯𝟰, 𝗖𝗼𝗹𝗹𝗲𝗴𝗲 𝗼𝗳 𝗕𝘂𝘀𝗶𝗻𝗲𝘀𝘀 𝗔𝗱𝗺𝗶𝗻𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 (𝗖𝗕𝗔) 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝟭𝟳𝟭, 𝗖𝗼𝗹𝗹𝗲𝗴𝗲 𝗼𝗳 𝗖𝗿𝗶𝗺𝗶𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝗝𝘂𝘀𝘁𝗶𝗰𝗲 𝗘𝗱𝘂𝗰𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 (𝗖𝗖𝗝𝗘) 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝟰𝟱, 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗖𝗼𝗹𝗹𝗲𝗴𝗲 𝗼𝗳 𝗖𝗼𝗺𝗽𝘂𝘁𝗲𝗿 𝗦𝘁𝘂𝗱𝗶𝗲𝘀 (𝗖𝗖𝗦) 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝟭𝟲𝟱 𝗴𝗿𝗮𝗱𝘂𝗮𝘁𝗲𝘀. Each name called represented years of perseverance, discipline, and personal growth—now officially recognized as graduates crossed the threshold of academic completion.

In a moment of institutional honor, 𝗦𝗨𝗖 𝗣𝗿𝗲𝘀𝗶𝗱𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗔𝗻𝗱𝗿𝗲𝘀 𝗖. 𝗣𝗮𝗴𝗮𝘁𝗽𝗮𝘁𝗮𝗻 𝗝𝗿., 𝗣𝗵.𝗗., conferred the Singular Honor, followed by the formal awarding of diplomas, assisted by the respective college deans. One by one, graduates stepped forward to receive the culmination of their academic journey, met with applause that carried both pride and farewell.

The program then transitioned into a solemn yet meaningful sequence, beginning with the 𝗣𝗹𝗲𝗱𝗴𝗲 𝗼𝗳 𝗟𝗼𝘆𝗮𝗹𝘁𝘆 led by 𝗦𝘂𝗺𝗺𝗮 𝗖𝘂𝗺 𝗟𝗮𝘂𝗱𝗲 𝗴𝗿𝗮𝗱𝘂𝗮𝘁𝗲 𝗠𝘀. 𝗡𝗶𝘀𝗵𝗶 𝗥. 𝗟𝗮𝘇𝗮𝗿𝗿𝗮, reaffirming the graduates’ enduring bond with their alma mater. This was followed by the Induction of Graduates into the 𝗘𝗮𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗻 𝗦𝗮𝗺𝗮𝗿 𝗦𝘁𝗮𝘁𝗲 𝗨𝗻𝗶𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗔𝗹𝘂𝗺𝗻𝗶 𝗔𝘀𝘀𝗼𝗰𝗶𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻, formally welcoming them into a lifelong community beyond the university gates.

As the ceremony drew closer to its close, the University Hymn resonated throughout the venue, anchoring the moment in shared identity and institutional pride. The atmosphere then shifted into a deeply emotional tone as “𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗖𝗹𝗶𝗺𝗯” 𝗯𝘆 𝗠𝗶𝗹𝗲𝘆 𝗖𝘆𝗿𝘂𝘀 played for the 𝗚𝗿𝗮𝗱𝘂𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗦𝗼𝗻𝗴—an apt reflection of the journey behind and the challenges that lie ahead. Its message of perseverance and growth echoed through the venue which captures the essence of every struggle, sacrifice, and breakthrough that defined the graduating class.

The Exit of Colors followed, signaling the formal closure of the academic procession, before the Recessional marked the end of the ceremony.

As graduates left the grounds, the message of the day lingered beyond the final notes of music: graduation signals the beginning of another ascent. Like the song that accompanied their final moments as students, they move forward not with certainty of ease, but with the assurance that every step taken has prepared them for the climb ahead.

𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝟲𝟭𝘀𝘁 𝗖𝗼𝗺𝗺𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗘𝘅𝗲𝗿𝗰𝗶𝘀𝗲𝘀 𝗼𝗳 𝗘𝗮𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗻 𝗦𝗮𝗺𝗮𝗿 𝗦𝘁𝗮𝘁𝗲 𝗨𝗻𝗶𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗶𝘁𝘆—Can-avid Campus featured congratulatory messages from dignitaries and university officials, each accentuating themes of purpose, resilience, compassion, and collective responsibility as the 𝗖𝗹𝗮𝘀𝘀 𝗼𝗳 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟲 prepares to transition beyond academic life.

Representing House Minority Leader and 4Ps Party-list Representative 𝗛𝗼𝗻. 𝗠𝗮𝗿𝗰𝗲𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗼 𝗖. 𝗟𝗶𝗯𝗮𝗻𝗮𝗻, 𝗟𝗲𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗿𝗱𝗼 “𝗞𝘂𝘆𝗮 𝗡𝗮𝗿𝗱𝘀” 𝗕𝗮𝗹𝗺𝗲𝘀 stressed the“𝗙𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗣𝘀” that graduates should carry forward: 𝗣𝘂𝗿𝗽𝗼𝘀𝗲, 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗴𝗿𝗲𝘀𝘀, 𝗣𝗿𝗶𝗱𝗲, and above all, 𝗣𝗲𝗼𝗽𝗹𝗲. He emphasized that while purpose, progress, and pride define personal growth, it is ultimately people who give meaning to success and achievement.

Meanwhile, 𝗗𝗿. 𝗠𝗮𝘅𝗶𝗺𝗼 𝗖. 𝗔𝗹𝗷𝗶𝗯𝗲, 𝗖𝗘𝗦𝗢 𝗜II, Director of the Commission on Higher Education Regional Office VIII, emphasized the importance of having a clear vision and acting with determination. He stressed that success becomes attainable through purposeful action and the support of parents, educators, and the wider community, noting that no goal is impossible when guided by collective effort.

𝗛𝗼𝗻. 𝗥𝗮𝗹𝗽𝗵 𝗩𝗶𝗻𝗰𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗠. 𝗘𝘃𝗮𝗿𝗱𝗼𝗻𝗲, Governor of Eastern Samar, reflected on how small decisions shape one’s future, stating:

“𝗜𝘁’𝘀 𝗯𝗲𝗰𝗮𝘂𝘀𝗲 𝗼𝗳 𝘁𝗵𝗼𝘀𝗲 𝘀𝗺𝗮𝗹𝗹 𝗱𝗲𝗰𝗶𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀 𝘁𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗺𝗮𝗱𝗲 𝘂𝘀 𝗮𝗹𝗹 𝗹𝗲𝗱 𝘂𝗽 𝘁𝗼 𝘁𝗵𝗶𝘀 𝗺𝗼𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁.”

He further explained that even seemingly insignificant choices accumulate over time and contribute significantly to one’s future outcomes.

On another note, 𝗛𝗼𝗻. 𝗔𝗹𝗶𝗰𝗶𝗮 𝗟. 𝗧𝗲𝘃𝗲𝘀, Municipal Mayor of Can-avid, emphasized compassion and dedication in all endeavors, reminding graduates to:

She further cited Aristotle, noting that educating the mind without educating the heart is no education at all, urging graduates to remain grounded in empathy and service.

Taken together, the messages reinforced the ceremony’s central theme of resilience amid adversity, leaving graduates with guiding principles anchored on purpose, vision, compassion, and mindful decision-making as they move forward into their respective paths.

Can-avid, Eastern Samar - The 𝟲𝟭𝘀𝘁 𝗖𝗼𝗺𝗺𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗘𝘅𝗲𝗿𝗰𝗶𝘀𝗲𝘀 𝗼𝗳 𝗘𝗮𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗻 𝗦𝗮𝗺𝗮𝗿 𝗦𝘁𝗮𝘁𝗲 𝗨𝗻𝗶𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗶𝘁𝘆—Can-avid Campus formally commenced on 𝗠𝗮𝘆 𝟭𝟰, 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟲, at the ESSUC Gymnasium following the processional of graduating students accompanied by their parents, faculty members, and university officials.

Held under the theme “𝗥𝗲𝘀𝗶𝗹𝗶𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝗶𝗻 𝗖𝗼𝗻𝗳𝗹𝗶𝗰𝘁 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗔𝗱𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗶𝘁𝘆: 𝗨𝗽𝗵𝗼𝗹𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗘𝘅𝗰𝗲𝗹𝗹𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲, 𝗔𝗰𝗰𝗼𝘂𝗻𝘁𝗮𝗯𝗶𝗹𝗶𝘁𝘆, 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗦𝗲𝗿𝘃𝗶𝗰𝗲 𝗶𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗣𝘂𝗿𝘀𝘂𝗶𝘁 𝗼𝗳 𝗦𝗵𝗮𝗿𝗲𝗱 𝗔𝘀𝗽𝗶𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀,” the ceremony gathered the 𝗚𝗿𝗮𝗱𝘂𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗖𝗹𝗮𝘀𝘀 𝗼𝗳 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟲, members of the Board of Regents, university administrators, deans from various colleges, and distinguished guests from national and local government agencies.

The commencement was officially declared open through the pronouncement of 𝗕𝗼𝗮𝗿𝗱 𝗦𝗲𝗰𝗿𝗲𝘁𝗮𝗿𝘆 𝗗𝗿. 𝗗𝗲𝗯𝗯𝗶𝗲 𝗝𝗼𝘆𝗰𝗲 𝗥. 𝗩𝗼𝗹𝗼𝘀𝗼, followed by an invocation led by the university chorale. The entrance of colors and the singing of the Philippine National Anthem reinforced the solemnity of the academic rite.

The highlight of the program was the Commencement Address of 𝐂𝐨𝐧𝐠𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐬𝐦𝐚𝐧 𝐂𝐡𝐫𝐢𝐬𝐭𝐨𝐩𝐡𝐞𝐫 𝐒𝐡𝐞𝐞𝐧 𝐏. 𝐆𝐨𝐧𝐳𝐚𝐥𝐞𝐬, of the Lone District of Eastern Samar, this year’s Commencement Speaker, who was introduced by 𝗗𝗿. 𝗚𝗲𝗿𝗼𝗻𝗶𝗺𝗼 𝗘𝗹𝗹𝗮𝗱𝗼, Campus Administrator. He highlighted purpose, perseverance, and self-belief as graduates transition into responsibilities beyond the university.

Anchoring his message on resilience, he cited insights shared by Leonardo “Kuya Nards” Balmes, echoing the Waray expression “𝗺𝗮𝗸𝗮-𝗽𝗶𝘁𝗼 𝗵𝗶𝗽𝗮𝗿𝗮𝗸𝗼𝗽, 𝗺𝗮𝗸𝗮-𝘄𝗮𝗹𝗼 𝗯𝗮𝗸𝗱𝗮𝘄”—fall seven times, stand up eight—stressing that setbacks are not indicators of failure but part of growth and renewal.

He also emphasized the importance of aspiration, stating:

“𝗛𝗮𝘃𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗻𝗼 𝗱𝗿𝗲𝗮𝗺 𝗶𝘀 𝗳𝗮𝗿 𝗺𝗼𝗿𝗲 𝗲𝘅𝗵𝗮𝘂𝘀𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴.”

Cong. Gonzales further explained that dreams provide direction and motivation, while the absence of purpose can be more draining than failure itself.

‎Green and gold filled the venue as students, parents, teachers, and guests gathered to celebrate one of the most awaited milestones at 𝗘𝗮𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗻 𝗦𝗮𝗺𝗮𝗿 𝗦𝘁𝗮𝘁𝗲 𝗨𝗻𝗶𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗶𝘁𝘆 — the 𝗥𝗲𝗰𝗼𝗴𝗻𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗥𝗶𝘁𝗲𝘀 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟲. The ceremony was not merely about medals shining under bright lights or certificates carefully held by proud hands.

‎Every medal, certificate, and diploma carried a story. Behind every recognition was a student who stayed awake late at night reviewing lessons, fighting exhaustion, overcoming self-doubt, and choosing to continue despite challenges. Some students walked through hardships silently, yet they stood proudly on stage with smiles that reflected years of determination and resilience.

‎One of the highlights of the event was the inspiring message delivered by 𝗠𝗶𝘀𝘀 𝗝𝗲𝗻𝗻𝗶𝗳𝗲𝗿 𝗦𝗮𝗻𝘁𝗮𝘆𝗮𝗻𝗮 𝗕𝗮𝗰𝘂𝗹𝗮. Her story touched the hearts of many as she reminded everyone that circumstances should never define a person’s future. Despite difficulties, she rose above limitations and became a 𝗧𝗼𝗽 𝟳 𝗧𝗼𝗽𝗻𝗼𝘁𝗰𝗵𝗲𝗿 in the 𝗕𝗼𝗮𝗿𝗱 𝗘𝘅𝗮𝗺𝗶𝗻𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗳𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝗧𝗲𝗮𝗰𝗵𝗲𝗿𝘀.

The statement became a powerful reminder that recognition is not the finish line. Instead, it is the beginning of a greater journey outside the comfort of classrooms and school hallways. Beyond academics lies the real world, it is a place where character, courage, and faith will truly be tested.

‎As students with Latin honors, special awards, Dean’s List distinctions, and President’s List recognitions walked across the stage, the audience witnessed more than academic excellence. They witnessed courage.

‎The 𝗥𝗲𝗰𝗼𝗴𝗻𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗥𝗶𝘁𝗲𝘀 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟲 became more than a ceremony. It became a beacon of inspiration for every student striving to reach their dreams. Under the beaming colors of green and gold, the students of 𝗘𝗮𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗻 𝗦𝗮𝗺𝗮𝗿 𝗦𝘁𝗮𝘁𝗲 𝗨𝗻𝗶𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗖𝗮𝗻-𝗮𝘃𝗶𝗱 𝗖𝗮𝗺𝗽𝘂𝘀 proved that success is not measured only by awards, but by the strength, humility, and perseverance built along the journey.

𝗘𝗮𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗻 𝗦𝗮𝗺𝗮𝗿 𝗦𝘁𝗮𝘁𝗲 𝗨𝗻𝗶𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗶𝘁𝘆 (𝗘𝗦𝗦𝗨) Can-avid campus conducted the 𝗥𝗲𝗴𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝗔𝗻𝗻𝘂𝗮𝗹 𝗔𝗱𝗺𝗶𝗻𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗧𝗮𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗰𝗮𝗹 𝗜𝗻𝘀𝗽𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 (𝗥𝗔𝗔𝗧𝗜) on 𝗔𝗽𝗿𝗶𝗹 𝟭𝟱, 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟲, a key evaluation of the 𝗥𝗲𝘀𝗲𝗿𝘃𝗲 𝗢𝗳𝗳𝗶𝗰𝗲𝗿𝘀’ 𝗧𝗿𝗮𝗶𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗖𝗼𝗿𝗽𝘀 (𝗥𝗢𝗧𝗖) unit.

The ceremony commenced with a courtesy visit to the campus administrator, 𝗗𝗿. 𝗚𝗲𝗿𝗼𝗻𝗶𝗺𝗼 𝗔. 𝗘𝗹𝗹𝗮𝗱𝗼, followed by a briefing conducted by 𝗙𝗶𝗿𝘀𝘁 𝗟𝗶𝗲𝘂𝘁𝗲𝗻𝗮𝗻𝘁 𝗕𝗲𝗿𝗻𝗮𝗿𝗱𝗶𝘁𝗮 𝗩𝗶𝗹𝗹𝗮𝗳𝗹𝗼𝗿 𝗣𝗔 (𝗥𝗲𝘀𝗲𝗿𝘃𝗲), ROTC Commandant representative. Proceeding with the arrival of honors, an invocation, and a welcoming remarks from 𝗠𝗿. 𝗗𝗮𝗿𝘄𝗶𝗻 𝗛. 𝗖𝗮𝗹𝘃𝗼, 𝗡𝗦𝗧𝗣 𝗛𝗲𝗮𝗱.

To officially mark the program, a ceremonial parade was executed featuring the ROTC officers, cadets, and the 𝗘𝗦𝗦𝗨 𝗖𝗮𝗻-𝗮𝘃𝗶𝗱 𝗠𝗮𝗿𝗰𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗕𝗮𝗻𝗱.

The inspection, 𝗟𝗧𝗖 𝗥𝗶𝘇𝘇𝗮 𝗠𝗮𝗲 𝗦𝗮𝗻 𝗔𝗴𝘂𝘀𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗲, 𝗣𝗔 (𝗚𝗦𝗖), Battalion Commander, 502nd Combat Engineer Battalion, Combat Engineer Regiment, as representative of 𝗖𝗼𝗹. 𝗥𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹𝗱 𝗠. 𝗜𝗹𝗹𝗮𝗻𝗮 𝗠𝗡𝗦𝗔 (𝗜𝗡𝗙) 𝗣𝗔, aimed to evaluate the unit’s administrative efficiency, tactical readiness, and overall performance.

Despite the intense heat, the participants demonstrated a remarkable discipline and resilience as they executed close-order drills and military tasks. The field demonstration further highlighted the unit’s tactical ability and teamwork despite the small amount of time preparation.

The activity also includes raid and ambush battle drills that showcased the cadets’ practical application of infantry tactics in a controlled training environment, highlighting their ability to execute coordinated movements, apply tactical decision-making, and maintain unit cohesion from planning to ex*****on.

The 𝗘𝗦𝗦𝗨𝗖 𝗥𝗢𝗧𝗖 𝗨𝗻𝗶𝘁 Unit received an average of 𝟵𝟬.𝟳𝟯% reflecting the institutions’ continued commitment to upholding high standards of administrative and tactical competence within its ROTC program.
