𝗠𝗔𝗥𝗜𝗡𝗔 𝗥𝗢𝗩 𝗼𝗿𝗶𝗲𝗻𝘁𝘀 𝗚𝗿𝗮𝗱𝘂𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗠𝗮𝗿𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗺𝗲 𝗦𝘁𝘂𝗱𝗲𝗻𝘁𝘀 𝗼𝗻 𝗦𝗜𝗗/𝗦𝗥𝗕 𝗢𝗔𝗦, 𝗠𝗜𝗦𝗠𝗢 𝗦𝘆𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗺
The Maritime Industry Authority (MARINA) orients the graduating maritime students on Seafarer’s Identity Document and Seafarer’s Record Book (SID/SRB), Online Appointment system (OAS), and MARINA Integrated Seafarers Management Online (MISMO) System, on May 3, 2024, at the MPCF Gymnasium.
The graduating students from BS Marine Engineering (BSMARE), BS Maritime Transportation (BSMT), and Cruise Ship Management Course (CSMC) attended the event, spearheaded by the On-Board Training Office (OBT) Office with 2/M Alexander M. Aco, OBT Office Supervisor.
The speakers from MARINA ROV: Engr. General M. Abuel, section head, Standards of Training Certification and Watchkeeping (STCW); Mr. Melvin B. Balean, staff, STCW; Ms. Joyce A. Saeza, section head of Manpower Development Service (MDS); and Mr. Joerey A. Hallare, staff, MDS tackled their topics on the application of MARINA MISMO System, SID/SRB, and OAS.
They also added the various MARINA circulars and advisories along with the acknowledgment of all the questions of the students through the open forum.
In an interview with 2/M Aco, the said event ensures that the graduating maritime students are aware of the steps and process of the recent trends concerning MARINA and their MISMO account, especially that it would equip them with the proper actions and steps on the processing of their documents at MARINA.
“Maganda itong event na ito, lalo na MARINA na mismo ang pumunta sa school natin. Sa amin kasi, kapag may mga problema ang mga estudyante sa paggawa ng MISMO account nila, limited lang naman ang masasagot namin. Kaya maganda na yung sila na ang pumunta dito. Kumbaga kapag may tanong sila, MARINA na mismo ang sasagot directly.” he said.
2/M Aco also mentioned that later, the students are required to make their own MISMO account as part of their clearance for the said event.
A MISMO Account from MARINA is required for all cadets who wish to have an online appointment at MARINA, unifying all the information systems utilized by the different divisions of the STCW office. The said account is one of the requirements to be met by those cadets who aim to work onboard a ship.

Dr. Gabriel L. Jimenez, OIC-President honors the late founder’s 102nd Birth Anniversary in his thanksgiving message during the holy mass, last, April 30, 2024, at Mariners’ Canaman Chapel.

Dr. Jimenez rekindled and described his father’s words after the mass presided by, Rev. Fr. Alfred Baesa, parish priest of Libmanan, Cam. Sur.

“Our father was a doting father. He was always full of love. Ang laging iniisip niya is ang vision na bibigyan ng magandang kinabukasan ang ating youth. He loved the Bikolanos, kaya sinabi niyang, ‘I’m going back to Bicol to share what I have experienced in my life, kaya kayo (the children) would continue my vision and the mission that I have started in Mariners’' he said.

The Board Chairperson and Vice President for Planning and Development, Madame Evita Jimenez-Tuazon also added her thoughts regarding the Founder’s Day. She mentioned that her father, who is a Libmaneño, through a meeting with the mayor of Libmanan, shall have a statue built at the center of Libmanan.

This was later on clarified with the guest, Mr. Jose Antonio H. Dilanco Jr, Executive Secretary to the Mayor of Libmanan - Mr. Jesus ‘Jes’ Camara, it is not a resolution, but an ordinance that not only a statute that will be built next year, but they will also declare April Day as Commemoration to Jimenez Sr.

Afterward, the blessing of the foundation of the picture of JCJ Sr., newly renovated chapel, Human Resources (HR), Community Extension, Research office, restrooms, vendo-machine, oil-water separator machine at the gym, and Masahe center, along with the groundbreaking of JIM’s Barber Shop at Berde Azul.

𝗠𝗮𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗲𝗿𝘀’ 𝗖𝗮𝗻𝗮𝗺𝗮𝗻 𝗽𝗮𝘆𝘀 𝘁𝗿𝗶𝗯𝘂𝘁𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗹𝗮𝘁𝗲 𝗳𝗼𝘂𝗻𝗱𝗲𝗿 𝘁𝗵𝗿𝗼𝘂𝗴𝗵 𝗧𝗶𝗴𝗻𝗮𝗿𝗮𝗸𝗼𝗹 𝗙𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗮𝗹

Mariners’ Canaman pays tribute to the late founder, Commodore Jaime Jimenez Sr., by attending the eve of the Tignarakol Festival with a liturgy hymn played by the Mariners’ Band through a fluvial procession on April 23, 2024.

Tignarakol Festival is the festival of St. Vincent Ferrer, the patron saint of Brgy. San Vicente, Libmanan, Camarines Sur. This is also the hometown of the late founder of the Mariners’ Community.

Mariners’ staff, students, and the highlight guest, Mariners’ Band, walked with the procession of the patron from the Parish of San Vicente to the harbor of the San Vicente River, which proceeded to the fluvial procession at the Libmanan River. Their river was once a pioneer mode of transportation from Naga City and Libmanan-Cabusao, which until now provides livelihood to the people.

The institution has long been part of this tradition, a connection that continues today through late Commodore Jaime Jimenez Sr., founder of the Mariners' Community, who grew, studied, and spent his formative years in San Vicente Libmanan.

In an interview with the OIC President, Dr. Gabriel Jimenez fondly recalls his father's deep ties to the town of San Vicente Ferrer.

“Ang pagpunta at presensya ng Mariners’ ay pagbibigay pugay at acknowledgement bilang isang anak ng isang taga San Vicente, Libmanan. Dito siya nagsimula, dito siya pinaganak, nag elementarya, at dito nagsimula ang kanyang pangarap.” Dr. Gabriel said.

“Kung buhay ang father ko, [ang] dami niyang programa para maimprove ‘to. Dito ang kabuhayan nila noon, isdaan and transportation from there and then,” He added.

Moreover, he is also committed to improving the connection with his father’s hometown with Mariners’ having a part of it.
