BAEL CELEBRATES TEACHER'S DAY WITH A HEARTFELT EVENT

On October 6, 2026, the English Language Society (ELS) successfully hosted a Teacher's Day Celebration at the CMC room of CAS. With the theme, “Together We Grow: Teaching With Heart, Leading With Passion,” the celebration featured a series of activities to commemorate the hard work and dedication of the faculty members.

The program included a processional of the BAEL faculty, an invocation by Ms. Jenny-Ann Briones, an audio-visual presentation of the National Anthem and ISPSC Hymn, and welcoming remarks by Mr. Tristan Gagtan.

One of the highlights of the event was the Faculty Appreciation segment which included the bestowing of sash to the educators and the presentation of student NGL entries, showcasing gratitude and a heartfelt appreciation to the educators.

The first and second year BAEL students also gave an intermission number to entertain the audience, and a series of games were also played, drawing enthusiastic participation from the attendees.

Nearing the end of the program, Mr. Christian Abella, the BAEL Program Head and Dr. Mary Grace L. Gacusan, the College Dean, shared inspiring messages. The celebration concluded with photo opportunities and eating fellowship with the faculty and students present.

On September 23, Kristine Galimba, a 4th-year Bachelor of Arts in English Language student of the College of Arts and Sciences, is set to partake in the esteemed seminary led by the most-awarded broadcast journalist Jessica Soho at GMA Affairs' Storytellers' Academy in Quezon City, Manila.

Among the number of applicants, Galimba made the list for the journey of becoming the next generation of storytellers who are fearless, honest, and trusted.

At the GMA Public Affairs' Storytellers' Academy, Ms. Jessica Soho will step into a new role as a mentor and share the lessons, instincts, and heart that carried her through four decades of journalism.

“LEADERSHIP IS AN ACTION, NOT A POSITION”

Last September 1, the newly elected officers of the English Language Society proudly participated in the Oath-Taking and Mass Induction of Student Leaders from both mandated and accredited organizations. The ceremony was anchored on the theme “Igniting the Flame of Leadership, Sustaining the Light of Excellence,” highlighting the essence of service, commitment, and responsibility that true leadership entails.

The event was made more meaningful with the presence of Hon. Kristelle G. Singson, the City Vice Mayor of Candon, who served as the Guest Speaker. Alongside her were distinguished officials of ISPSC, led by President Mario P. Obrero, SUC President III, whose guidance and support continually inspire student leaders to excel.

National Heroes Day is celebrated every last Monday of August to honor the courage and sacrifices of the people who fought for our country’s freedom. It reminds us that the rights and independence we enjoy today were made possible by their hard work, bravery, and love for the Philippines. From heroes we often read in books like Jose Rizal and Andres Bonifacio, to the many unnamed individuals who gave their lives, all of them played an important role in shaping our nation.

This day is not just about remembering the past, but also about reflecting on how we can show heroism in our daily lives. Being a hero is not limited to fighting in wars; it can also be seen in small actions like helping others, serving our community, and being responsible citizens. As we celebrate National Heroes Day, may we be inspired to follow their example and continue to show courage, kindness, and love for our country.
