CANDONI, NEGROS OCCIDENTAL — April 15, 2025 (Tuesday) — Caningay National High School – Banga Extension held its 10th Junior High School Completion Ceremony and 8th Senior High School Commencement Exercises, celebrating the academic achievements of 66 Junior High completers and 59 Senior High graduates in a ceremony filled with pride, purpose, and inspiration.
Held on the school grounds in Brgy. Banga, the event was anchored on the theme “Generation of Unity: Partners for the New Philippines,” highlighting the role of education in shaping learners into active participants in national development.
Ms. Jennefer M. Jamili, an alumna of Caningay NHS–Banga Extension and now a faculty member of the same institution, served as the guest speaker. Her presence as both a product and pillar of the school inspired students to pursue growth with dedication and community spirit.
Dr. Darlene Grace Malsi, Principal In-Charge of the District of Candoni, addressed the graduates with a message framed around the school’s identity and its upcoming transition to Banga National High School. She introduced the acronym “BNHS” as a framework for character and faith-based leadership:
B – Bring the Word of God into your life, for in faith we find strength, wisdom, and purpose.
N – Nurture your life with values, because character is the foundation of true success.
H – Hope for the best, for every challenge is a stepping stone to greater things.
S – Serve with a smile, for joy in service creates impact that lasts a lifetime.
“As leaders, educators, and learners of Caningay NHS – Banga Extension, soon to be Banga NHS,” she said, “let us be guided by the values that shape not just minds, but hearts.”
In a moving portion of her speech, Dr. Malsi invited all completers and graduates to rise from their seats and approach their parents as a public act of gratitude. Students expressed heartfelt thanks—many with tears, hugs, and quiet words. She then asked parents to place their hands on their children’s heads, a gesture of blessing rooted in biblical tradition, seen in Genesis 48 and Mark 10. The symbolic act served as both a spiritual affirmation and a commissioning for the journey ahead.
Following her message, School Principal Ma’am Rose Lima M. Guita addressed the students with a heartfelt reflection titled “Simple 7 Lines to Remember,” offering guidance grounded in perseverance, humility, and purpose.
“Success is not just about reaching the top, but having the courage to keep going—even when the path is unclear,” Guita said.
“Your worth isn't measured by medals or rank, but by the kindness, integrity, and humility you bring to everything you do.”
She continued with five more insights:
“The real test in life is not in exams, but in how you rise after failure, how you lead with compassion, and how you serve with purpose.”
“Dreams are not just goals to chase—they are lights that guide your actions toward your purpose.”
“Never rush your journey. Every step has a lesson.”
“The future is uncertain, but it holds possibilities.”
“Go forward—not in fear, but in faith.”
The event was attended by parents, teachers, barangay officials, and other community stakeholders, all celebrating the fruits of resilience, partnership, and education.
