Tropical Storm (TS) "Jolina"

“JOLINA” INTENSIFIES INTO A TROPICAL STORM WHILE MOVING WEST NORTHWESTWARD OVER THE PHILIPPINE SEA EAST OF EASTERN SAMAR.

Location of Center: At 4 p.m. today, the center of Tropical Storm “JOLINA” was estimated based on all available data at 95 km East of Guiuan, Eastern Samar (11.0°N, 126.6°E)
Movement: Moving Westward Northwestward at 20 km/h
Intensity: Maximum sustained winds of 75 km/h near the center, gustiness of up to 90 km/h, and central pressure of 1000 hPa
Track: On the forecast track, “JOLINA” will track generally northwestward parallel to the east coast of the country until it makes landfall over the Northern-Central Luzon area by Thursday morning (09 September).
Afterwards, the tropical storm will move generally westward while traversing over the Northern- Central Luzon area and may re-emerge over the West Philippine Sea by Thursday evening. “JOLINA” is forecast to exit the Phi lippine Area of Responsibility by Friday morning (10 September).
Given the uncertainty of the track forecast, a westward shift of the track may result to landfall or passed near the Eastern Samar or Northern Samar.
The public is advised to continue monitoring for possible changes in the track forecast in the succeeding bulletins.
