The table presents three key indicators for selected municipalities in Region VIII (Eastern Visayas, Philippines):
1. 2024 Total Economic & Social Services Expenditures:
This is the total amount allocated/spent by each municipality for economic development and social services in 2024.
Amounts are expressed in Philippine pesos (โฑ).
2. 2024 Population:
Recently released by the Philippines Statistics Authority (PSA) population for each municipality in 2024.
3. Per Capita Expenditure:
This is the per-person spending, calculated by dividing the total expenditures by the population.
It reflects how much each resident benefits from government allocations in economic and social services.
๐ Top 10 Municipalities by Per Capita Expenditure
From the list, the top performers are highlighted with higher per capita spending:
1. Burauen, Leyte โ โฑ2,843.09 per capita
Highest in the region, with โฑ155.3 Million expenditures for 54,635 people.
2. Albuera, Leyte โ โฑ2,436.30 per capita
โฑ115.3 million for 47,333 residents.
3. Llorente, Eastern Samar โ โฑ2,245.99 per capita
4. Jaro, Leyte โ โฑ2,077.99 per capita
5. Naval, Biliran โ โฑ2,024.40 per capita
6. Mondragon, Northern Samar โ โฑ1,908.48 per capita
7. Isabel, Leyte โ โฑ1,895.46 per capita
8. Abuyog, Leyte โ โฑ1,877.47 per capita
9. Palompon, Leyte โ โฑ1,878.81 per capita
10. Kananga, Leyte โ โฑ1,688.56 per capita
Leyte dominates the list, with 7 out of the Top 10 municipalities coming from Leyte province.
Burauen, Leyte (Top 1) shows a remarkable lead, with per capita spending higher than all other municipalities.
Municipalities with smaller populations tend to have higher per capita expenditures (e.g., Albuera, Llorente).
Southern Leyte (Sogod) and some Samar municipalities (e.g., Gandara, Santa Rita) show much lower per capita figures, some under โฑ1,000, indicating limited spending compared to their population size.
LGU capacity to spend on services varies greatly.
Higher per capita expenditure means better potential services per resident.
Leyte province shows strong fiscal performance compared to Samar and Southern Leyte municipalities.
