In a groundbreaking move to promote holistic student growth, Carmen National High School โ Senior High School (CNHS-SHS) officially launched its very first Sports Club Orientation and Election of Officers on July 23, 2025, at the schoolโs Covered Court. This historic event was spearheaded by the Physical Education and Health Department, under the leadership of Sports Club Adviser Krystel Love F. Calva, T-II, and Department Head Sir Robert A. Sanchez, T-II. The initiative was in line with Article XIV, Section 19 of the 1987 Constitution, which emphasizes the importance of physical education and sports in youth development.
The program commenced at 2:00 PM with the arrival and attendance checking of student-athletes. Sir Robert A. Sanchez opened the event with a warm welcome and highlighted the importance of leadership, commitment, and discipline in the realm of sports. Following this, Krystel Love F. Calva led the proper orientation, which provided an in-depth look at the schoolโs sports roadmap, as well as the vision, goals, and responsibilities of the newly formed club. To inspire and motivate attendees, Palarong Pambansa athlete John Barrie Bandiola shared a heartfelt testimony titled โMy Journey,โ showcasing his experiences and achievements in the sport of Pencak Silat.
A significant highlight of the orientation was the election and official oath-taking of the clubโs first-ever officers, which was overseen by the School Head, Club Adviser, and faculty members. The elected officers include Ernesto Cantomayor as President, MJ Manaay as Vice-President, Princess Julia Mapalo as Secretary, Sharmelle Cantomayor as Treasurer, Franklyn Langote as Auditor, and Ashley Teaรฑo as Public Information Officer. Carl Loise Bosico and Lance Librando were chosen as Business Managers. For student representation, the Academic Track elected BJ Salvilla, Baraguir, and Mark Jian Escote, while the Tech-Voc Track elected Mantawil, Novaria, and Cleto as their respective representatives.
The event concluded with closing remarks from Sir Robert A. Sanchez, who praised the participants' enthusiasm and teamwork, emphasizing the lasting importance of unity and sportsmanship among student-athletes.
As the Sports Club moves forward, CNHS-SHS Sports Coordinator Maโam Shyramae A. Amatong, T-III announced a lineup of exciting upcoming events that will continue to foster athletic excellence. These include the Batang Pinoy Provincial Qualifying Tournament in Kidapawan (JulyโAugust 2025), the school-based intramurals "Hampang-Kasadya 2025" in August, and the District/Municipal Meet in September. October will feature the Batang Pinoy National Qualifying Tournament in General Santos City, followed by the Congressional Meet in November, the 50th Cotabato Provincial Athletic Association Meet in Kidapawan from December 10โ13, and the SRAA Meet in Sultan Kudarat Division in February 2026. Finally, the school is set to participate in the prestigious Palarong Pambansa in the CARAGA Region by May 2026.
