Carmen National High School โ€“ Senior High School (CNHS-SHS) paid tribute to the rich culture and heritage of the heritage of indigenous people through a meaningful school-based celebration of the National Indigenous Peoples (IPs) Month 2025 on November 10, 2025, at 8:00 a.m.

The activity, organized in line with Division Memorandum No. OCID-2025-185 issued by the Department of Education, Division of Cotabato, aimed to strengthen cultural awareness, promote inclusivity, and preserve the legacy of the indigenous peoples within the school and local community.

Spearheaded by Teachers Airene M. Valdevieso and Sadany Jr. M. Man-ampit, under the supervision of Dr. Roleen B. Moleรฑo, Ed.D., Assistant Principal for Governance, the celebration featured messages and cultural performances highlighting the importance of indigenous identity and unity.

โ€œI am very thankful for this National Indigenous Peoples Month celebration because we are given the chance to impart and share inspirational messages with IP learnersโ€”to motivate them to pursue their goals in life, not only for themselves but also for their community and the future of their tribe,โ€ expressed is Maโ€™am Melisa M. Campong, RSW, from the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD), who served as the inspirational message speaker.

In her message, Maโ€™am Campong underscored the importance of motivation and determination among IP learners as a way of empowering their communities.

Another highlight of the program was the message from Bai Atedja U. Mampurok of the Ancestral Domain Management, who emphasized the significance of keeping traditional knowledge alive through school-based activities.

โ€œKani siya nga event, dili lang ni isa ka basta-basta nga selebrasyon kay usa pud ni siya ka paraan para mabuhi usab ang traditional nga way sa mga indigenous people... So dako kaayo siya nga impact para dili kalimtan ang roots, ang identity sa amoang tribo,โ€ shared Bai Mampurok, referring to the eventโ€™s role in preserving Manobo customs.

Meanwhile, Dr. Billy S. Pobre, RPST, RSW, Master Teacher II, reminded the youth to take pride in their roots.

โ€œMahalin natin ang ating sariling kultura, at ipa-alam upang malaman ito ng iba,โ€ said Dr. Pobre, stressing the need for cultural pride and awareness among the younger generation as the guest speaker of the event.

Adding depth to the program, Arsenio Impalid, Provincial Indigenous Peoples Mandatory Representative (IPMR), discussed the history and essence of the Indigenous Peoplesโ€™ Rights Act of 1997 (RA 8371). He explained that the law was created to address years of marginalization and cultural erosion, recognizing ancestral domains, self-governance, and social justice for indigenous peoples.

The celebration concluded with cultural presentations, traditional dances, and reflections on the role of education in preserving indigenous identity. Through this event, CNHS-SHS reaffirmed its commitment to promoting cultural appreciation, unity, and respect for diversityโ€”values that continue to define the Filipino spirit.
