Instead of being handled strictly as property, courts are now required to take an animal’s wellbeing into account during legal disputes, acknowledging the emotional and relational role pets play in people’s lives.

The shift reflects a broader global trend backed by decades of behavioral and neurological research. Studies from institutions such as Emory University and Harvard have shown that companion animals, particularly dogs, form deep attachment bonds and experience stress and comfort in ways closely resembling human family relationships. Supporters argue the law brings legal language closer to social reality, where pets are widely regarded as members of the family rather than objects.

My 4 legged Hero...
Oct 31 2025 around 1AM in the morning when everyone at home were fully sleeping, yun 3 dogs namin my Yuki, Ken and Chibbie ay biglang nag ingay at ginigising ako, akala ko may narinig lang silang fireworks kaya nagkakagulo, nakatalikod lang ako sa window portion ng room namin habang tulog..sinita ko pa sila to stop..then bigla na namn sila ulit nag ingay..at dito ako bumaling humarap sa may window namin at nakita ko na may kumikislap sa may tapat ng bintana..at napabalikwas ako dahil kumislap ang power outlet na nasa ibaba ng bintana..kaya dali dali ko binunot ang nakaplug dito na muntikan ng pag mulan ng apoy. Thanks God talaga at ginamit niya ang mga dogs namin to save us. They are trully our hero..
