GREEDY BIR OFFICERS FLAGGED IN LOA SCHEME

In a report by The Daily Tribune, Sen. JV Ejercito raised alarm over alleged corruption inside the Bureau of Internal Revenue, claiming that some revenue officers up to regional directors are involved in pocketing money from Letters of Authority (LOA) operations.

Ejercito said the BIR originally aimed to generate ₱6–8 billion from LOA collections but delivered only ₱2–3 billion — a massive shortfall he attributes to corruption, alleging that “70% ang dinadakma, 30% lang ang napupunta sa gobyerno.”

The senator said it is disheartening that government agencies have developed “kanya-kanyang diskarte,” diverting funds meant for vital public services such as healthcare, education, and infrastructure.

Ejercito called for immediate reforms and accountability measures, stressing that taxpayers deserve a transparent and trustworthy revenue system.

Bonggang Tuscany Wedding ng Anak ni Rep. Gardiola, Umani ng Tanong sa Gitna ng Flood Control Issue

Lumutang muli sa publiko ang isang ulat ng Politiko.com.ph tungkol sa engrandeng kasal sa Tuscany, Italy noong Mayo 2024 para sa anak ni CWS Party-list Rep. Edwin Gardiola—na tinawag ng isang kasamahan bilang “top DPWH contractor” sa Kongreso—habang lumalawak ang imbestigasyon sa umano’y iregularidad sa mga flood control projects.

Ayon sa Politiko, umabot sa 170 bisita mula Pilipinas ang dinala pa sa Tuscany, kasama ang ilang suppliers. Tampok sa selebrasyon ang luxury accommodations, Macallan whiskey, choreographed fireworks, at vintage car rides—mga detalyeng nagbigay-diin sa karangyaan ng okasyon.

Batay sa karaniwang presyo ng destination weddings sa Italy, tinatayang ₱25 milyon hanggang higit ₱40 milyon ang posibleng kabuuang gastos para sa flight, hotel, venue rental, catering, program, at special effects para sa ganitong kalaking grupo. Walang opisyal na halaga mula sa pamilya, ngunit tugma ang estimate sa industry rates sa Europe.

Para sa maraming Pilipino, nakakapukaw-hininga ang ganoong klaseng gastos, lalo na’t inuugnay si Gardiola sa mga tanong tungkol sa multi-milyong pisong flood control projects na kasalukuyang iniimbestigahan. Ang mga proyektong ito ay sentro ng usapan dahil sa mga alegasyon laban sa ilang mambabatas, opisyal ng DPWH, at iba pang personalidad na umano’y maaaring nakinabang sa pondo.

Hindi lamang ang bongga ng kasal ang nagpaigting ng interes ng publiko, kundi ang pangamba kung saan nanggagaling ang ganitong uri ng paggastos—lalo na para sa isang opisyal na may kaugnayan sa malalaking infrastructure allocations. Para sa mga kritiko, mahalagang tanungin kung may koneksiyon ang lifestyle na ito sa mga proyektong pinopondohan ng bayan.

Hanggang ngayon ay wala pang inilalabas na pahayag si Gardiola ukol sa Tuscany wedding at sa mga isyung ibinabato laban sa kanya.

New leaders of the Kapisanan ng mga Brodkaster ng Pilipinas were elected during the 51st Top Level Management Conference held from November 12 to 14, 2025, at Twin Lakes Hotel in Tagaytay City, as the industry sharpened its focus on strengthening Philippine broadcasting in the digital age.

For 2025–2026, Ruperto “Jun” Nicdao Jr. of the Manila Broadcasting Company takes the helm as the new KBP president.
