𝐔𝐆𝐀𝐓 𝐍𝐆 𝐊𝐀𝐒𝐀𝐘𝐒𝐀𝐘𝐀𝐍, 𝐃𝐈𝐖𝐀 𝐍𝐆 𝐒𝐀𝐌𝐀𝐑𝐄𝐍̃𝐎

AGOSTO 11, 2026 — Ipinagdiriwang ngayong araw ang Samar Day 2026 na may temang “Tinikangan, Katungtungan, Kabubuwason,” bilang paggunita sa kasaysayan, kultura, tradisyon, at pagkakakilanlan ng Samar at ng mga Samareño.

Mula sa likas na yaman at makasaysayang pook hanggang sa mga tradisyon at kulturang patuloy na naipapasa sa bawat henerasyon, bahagi ang mga ito ng pagkakakilanlan ng Samar. Kasama rin dito ang mga Samareñong kilala sa kanilang pagiging magiliw, matatag, at mapagmalasakit sa kapwa.

Sa Samar Day, muling binibigyang-pansin ang mga pamana ng nakaraan, ang Samar sa kasalukuyan, at ang mga hangarin para sa kinabukasan nito.

Mabuhay ang Samar! Mabuhay ang mga Samareño!

𝐒𝐀 𝐌𝐆𝐀 𝐋𝐀𝐑𝐀𝐖𝐀𝐍 | Agosto 7, 2026 — Nagtipon ang Ignacian Marian Community ngayong Unang Biyernes ng Buwan upang makiisa sa pagdiriwang ng Banal na Misa na ginanap sa St. Bartholomew Parish Church. Sa pamamagitan ng sama-samang panalangin, pasasalamat, at pagninilay, muling pinagtibay ng komunidad ang kanilang pananampalataya at pagtitiwala sa walang hanggang pag-ibig, habag, at awa ng Banal na Puso ni Hesus.

Ang Banal na Misa ay pinangunahan ni Msgr. Antonio Verzosa Jr., na naghatid ng makabuluhang pagninilay at nagbigay-diin sa kahalagahan ng patuloy na pamumuhay na nakasentro kay Kristo. Naging pagkakataon din ang pagdiriwang upang higit na mapagtibay ang pagkakaisa at espirituwal na ugnayan ng buong Ignacian Marian Community.

𝐈𝐧 𝐏𝐡𝐨𝐭𝐨𝐬 | Senior High School students from Grades 11 and 12 of St. Mary's College of Catbalogan (SMCC) visited the Ladawan Art Exhibit at Balay Samarnon this afternoon as part of the Tandaya Festival celebration.

The exhibit featured various artworks that beautifully captured the culture, heritage, landscapes, and everyday life of Samar, giving students a deeper appreciation of the province's rich identity through visual arts. Students also had the chance to receive free live portrait sketches from participating artists, drawing smiles from many attendees. Meanwhile, Jolly Ostulano led a basic sketching demonstration, teaching students simple techniques in drawing the eyes, nose, mouth, ears, an apple, and a landscape. The hands-on session gave participants an opportunity to practice basic drawing skills while learning directly from a local artist.

Through the exhibit and interactive art activities, students were encouraged to explore their creativity while celebrating the artistry and cultural beauty of Samar.

𝐒𝐌𝐂𝐂 𝐛𝐢𝐧𝐮𝐤𝐬𝐚𝐧 𝐚𝐧𝐠 𝐩𝐚𝐠𝐝𝐢𝐫𝐢𝐰𝐚𝐧𝐠 𝐧𝐠 𝐁𝐮𝐰𝐚𝐧 𝐧𝐠 𝐖𝐢𝐤𝐚

Matagumpay na inilunsad ng St. Mary's College of Catbalogan (SMCC) ngayong araw ang pagdiriwang ng Buwan ng Wika para sa buwan ng Agosto, na may temang, "Kabataang Maka-Filipino: Naglilingkod nang may Malasakit, Kumikilos nang may Karunungan, at Nagbibigay ng Pag-asa."

Sa pamamagitan ng makabuluhang programa, binigyang-diin ang kahalagahan ng pagpapahalaga, paggamit, at patuloy na pagpapaunlad ng ating sariling wika bilang saligan ng pambansang pagkakakilanlan at pagkakaisa ng bawat Pilipino.

Inanunsyo rin ang iba't ibang patimpalak at mga gawaing inihanda para sa pagdiriwang, na naglalayong hikayatin ang buong komunidad ng SMCC na gamitin, pagyamanin, at mahalin ang wikang nagsisilbing tulay ng pagkakaisa at kultura ng sambayanang Pilipino.

𝐒𝐌𝐂𝐂, 𝐂𝐄𝐍𝐑𝐎 𝐡𝐨𝐥𝐝𝐬 𝐞𝐧𝐯𝐢𝐫𝐨𝐧𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐚𝐥 𝐚𝐰𝐚𝐫𝐞𝐧𝐞𝐬𝐬 𝐦𝐞𝐞𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠

St. Mary's College of Catbalogan (SMCC) in partnership with the City Environment and Natural Resources Office (CENRO), conducted an environmental awareness meeting at the SMCC Function Room on July 29, 2026, attended by Grade 10 and 11 students.

The activity featured Mrs. Mariam Milagros B. Gomez from the Local Government Unit (LGU) Catbalogan City as the guest speaker, who discussed the growing impact of climate change on the environment, highlighting its causes, effects, and the importance of environmental responsibility, she also presented examples of major disasters that have occurred around the world, emphasizing the need for preparedness and collective action in addressing environmental challenges.

The meeting was concluded with an inspiring message from Mrs. Gomez, encouraging students to become active stewards of the environment by participating in environmental initiatives and supporting research efforts that contribute to building a more sustainable and resilient community.
