📢 𝐂𝐚𝐥𝐥𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐚𝐥𝐥 𝐒𝐒𝐔 𝐂𝐎𝐄𝐝 𝐆𝐫𝐚𝐝𝐮𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐬 (𝟐𝟎𝟏𝟖–𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟒)

In support of EDCOM 2 and the Teacher Education Council (TEC)-funded Research Initiatives, Samar State University enjoins all graduates of Teacher Education programs (2018–2024) to participate in the National Tracer Study on Employability and Career Trajectories of Teacher Education Graduates.

This is a collaborative research project conducted by the Philippine Normal University–Mindanao and the University of Santo Tomas, endorsed by CHED Regional Office VIII.

The Samar State University's 𝑨𝒓𝒕𝒔 & 𝑪𝒖𝒍𝒕𝒖𝒓𝒂𝒍 𝑯𝒆𝒓𝒊𝒕𝒂𝒈𝒆 𝑷𝒓𝒐𝒈𝒓𝒂𝒎𝒔 (𝑨𝑪𝑯𝒆𝑷), together with the 𝑺𝑺𝑼 𝑴𝒖𝒔𝒆𝒖𝒎 & 𝑨𝒓𝒄𝒉𝒊𝒗𝒆𝒔, 𝑺𝒐𝒄𝒊𝒂𝒍 𝑺𝒕𝒖𝒅𝒊𝒆𝒔 𝑪𝒊𝒓𝒄𝒍𝒆, 𝑺𝒐𝒄𝒊𝒆𝒕𝒚 𝒐𝒇 𝑷𝒉𝒚𝒔𝒊𝒄𝒂𝒍 𝑬𝒅𝒖𝒄𝒂𝒕𝒐𝒓𝒔, 𝑺𝑺𝑼 𝑷𝒔𝒚𝒄𝒉𝒐𝒍𝒐𝒈𝒚 𝑺𝒐𝒄𝒊𝒆𝒕𝒚, and in partnership with the 𝑳𝒐𝒄𝒂𝒍 𝑮𝒐𝒗𝒆𝒓𝒏𝒎𝒆𝒏𝒕 𝑼𝒏𝒊𝒕 𝒐𝒇 𝑪𝒂𝒕𝒃𝒂𝒍𝒐𝒈𝒂𝒏, will present a theatrical performance entitled :

The said drama will feature the poem 𝑷𝒂𝒌𝒔𝒊𝒘 𝒏𝒈𝒂 𝑷𝒂𝒓𝒖𝒕𝒑𝒐𝒕, 𝑺𝒊𝒏𝒂𝒓𝒂𝒌𝒂𝒏 𝒏𝒈𝒂 𝑩𝒂𝒏𝒈𝒌𝒂𝒍𝒂𝒔 by the Catbaloganon poet, Anecito O. Llaneta.

It will also feature the rich fishing heritage and culture among Catbaloganons like the 𝑷𝒂𝒈𝒕𝒖𝒃𝒂𝒔 𝑹𝒊𝒕𝒖𝒂𝒍 performed by the fisherfolks during lean seasons.

The drama reintroduces a local folklore popular among the island-settlers of Catbalogan about the mythical sea creature believed to thrive in the underwater kingdom of Catbalogan seas- the 𝐊𝐚𝐭𝐚𝐰 (mermaid/man).

The mystical underwater world is dominated by their king, 𝐇𝐚𝐝𝐢 𝐋𝐚𝐮𝐫𝐨𝐧, whose power will be challenged by his own daughter, 𝐌𝐚𝐫𝐲𝐚𝐧𝐚 - all because of her love for 𝐅𝐞𝐥𝐢𝐩𝐞, a fishing lad - whose love story began in one full moon at the Bay of Maqueda.

Be caught by the captivating dramaturgy of Samar State University's faculty and students at the Catbalogan City Plaza, on August 30, 2025, 7:00PM.
