Students, school administrators, and teaching and non-teaching personnel of St. Mary's College of Catbalogan Inc. unite as SMCC holds a year-end institutional Thanksgiving mass at St. Bartholomew Parish on May 20, 2024.

During the homily, Rev. Fr. Ionnes Llego, the priest in-charge, emphasized the importance of commemorating the Pentecost — the 50th day after Easter which marks the day that the Holy Spirit descended upon the apostles.

"The holy spirit is the one who sanctifies the church. It is the Holy Spirit that allows us to continue as a children of God," said Fr. Llego.

As the academic year draws to a close, the recently concluded institutional Thanksgiving mass serves as a reminder of the essence of gratitude, reflection, and strengthening one's faith. This solemn event has also served as an opportunity to offer thanks for the blessings received throughout the current academic year.

Motherhood is a journey filled with countless sacrifices and unconditional love. From the moment we enter this world, mothers nurture us, teach us, and guide us through life's triumphs and challenges. Their strength, compassion, and resilience inspire us to become better individuals.

So, on this Mother's Day, let's take a moment to appreciate the mothers, grandmothers, and motherly figures who have shaped us into who we are. Let's shower them with love, gratitude, and the recognition they truly deserve.

𝐋𝐎𝐎𝐊 | The traditional bulletin board, once a mainstay of school communication, is getting a digital makeover at St. Mary's College of Catbalogan (SMCC). Gone are the days of faded flyers and hastily scrawled announcements. SMCC has taken a bold step into the future by installing smart TV in the campus lobby, ushering in a new era of dynamic and engaging communication.

𝐇𝐄 𝐈𝐒 𝐑𝐈𝐒𝐄𝐍!

After a week-long journey of suffering and death, rejoice, for our Saviour is risen!

This day honours Jesus Christ's resurrection three days after His death. Today is a day of immense joy and hope, as we are celebrating the victory of light over darkness, life over death, and the triumph of God's love for all mankind.

Jesus' resurrection on Easter Sunday serves as our cornerstone of faith. This signifies that He has fulfilled God's plan for redemption and promises that eternal life will be granted to those who believe in Him. "For this is the will of my Father, that everyone who looks on the Son and believes in him should have eternal life, and I will raise him up on the last day.” John 6:40

The celebration of Easter and the days of Holy Week do not only remind us of His boundless love for us; these days are also a call for us to change—an ultimate change. May this entire week have helped us reflect and continuously seek His enlightenment and protection as we live our lives here in this deceitful world.

𝐁𝐋𝐀𝐂𝐊 𝐒𝐀𝐓𝐔𝐑𝐃𝐀𝐘

On this day, also known as Holy Saturday, we commemorate the day Jesus Christ was placed in the tomb after His death by crucifixion. Therefore, "Black" symbolises grieving over Jesus' death.

It is a day of mourning yet a day of hope because it was also on this day, as His body lay calmly in His tomb, He descended into hell to proclaim His triumph over sin, death, and the devil and to deliver the righteous.

This celebration of the joyous conclusion of Lent and Jesus' journey from death to life offers us a peaceful hope. Let's take this time to reflect, pray and thank Him for all the sacrifices that He has made for the salvation of the humanity. Indeed, He owes us nothing, but we owe Him everything.
