๐๐๐๐๐๐ || Ronald "Pogi" Dalupang: A Rising Badminton Star's Journey of Success and Gratitude
Ronald "Pogi" Dalupang hails from the corn capital of the Philippines, the City of Ilagan, Isabela. Born on October 8, 2003, he graduated from elementary school at Ilagan South Central School in the batch of 2014-2015. Subsequently, he graduated with honors from Isabela National High School in the academic year 2022-2023. Currently, he is a Second Year College student at Isabela College of Arts & Technology, Inc., pursuing a Bachelor of Marine Transportation degree. Ronald, the youngest among three siblings, proudly claims to be the most handsome, with his supportive parents, Lyndon Dalupang and Gerdeliza Dalupang, always by his side.
According to him, his journey in the sport of Badminton was not easy, as he had to make many sacrifices to achieve his goals. But despite those hardships, it was still worth it. Perhaps, he was able to win and bring home the medals because of his family and friends who are always there to support him. The message that I have to inspire my fellow players is that no matter what happens and whatever results come out of the competitions we face, we must accept them and remain strong and confident in ourselves. Perhaps in such events, there are winners and losers, but at least you try your best and make others proud," he said during an interview.
During his high school years, Ronald Dalupang participated in Cavraa, where he brought home the silver medal in the Badminton (Singles) event at the Regional Invitational Sporting Events 2022 (RISE) held in Cauayan City, Isabela, from April 25-28, 2022. He also competed in his first PRISAA Provincial meet in 2023, clinching the gold medal in the Badminton (Singles) event. Similarly, in 2024, he once again secured the gold medal in his game. In his debut at the PRISAA Regional, he attained the silver medal in 2023. Moreover, he represented his region at the National PRISAA held in Zamboanga in 2023. In 2024, he earned the silver medalist title at the PRISAA Regional held in Santiago City, from May 15-18, 2024, in the Badminton (Singles) event, and he is qualified for the National PRISAA, scheduled to take place this year in Legazpi Albay.
"Before concluding, I would like to express my gratitude to the coaches in Cauayan and Ilagan for their invaluable support. I also extend my thanks to Team Santiago for their assistance during PRISAA, as well as to The Anchor, school publication of Isabela College of Arts & Technology, Inc., and to my beloved schools, ICAT, for their consistent coverage and support. Additionally, I appreciate the photographers for providing me with pictures for my IG posts. Special thanks to my classmates and friends, despite their frequent absences, for maintaining high grades. Lastly, a shoutout to the distinguished ALPHA PHI OMEGA PI ETA CHAPTER," he said during an interview.
Among the challenges and victories of Mr. Ronald Dalupang, what stands out is his dedication to self-improvement as a student athlete. He reminds us that in any competition, trusting oneself and fostering strong friendships through effective communication are vital. In sports, cultivating new friendships and maintaining unity, even with opponents, fosters a spirit of friendly competition, ensuring that no one gets hurt in the pursuit of excellence.
