๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐ ๐๐๐๐ | UPHSL-IC Strengthens Emergency Preparedness in Response to Recent Earthquake Incidents
Isabela โ October 14, 2025. Emergency Response Team (ERT) of the University of Perpetual Help System Laguna โ Isabela Campus (UPHSL-IC) holds an emergency meeting at 3:00 PM today to reinforce universityโs readiness and safety protocols following consecutive earthquake incidents in the past weeks.
The meeting is presided over by Mr. Jaycy T. Calagui, Student Personnel Director, who leads the discussion on reviewing the roles and responsibilities of each ERT member. Mr. Calagui emphasizes that โthe ERT needs to be ready.โ He mentions that the ERT was organized long before prior to the pandemic but it's being reorganized every year. Committees were familiarized of their roles and responsibilities should disaster happens.
Ms. Angeli Elene Lois Busog, administrative officer and the incident coordinator of ERT, stresses the importance of ensuring building safety and conducting orientations. She reiterates that โthe building structure must be checkedโ and that โorientation should be held on November, but the drill must be prioritized now due to consecutive earthquake incidents these past few weeks.โ
A seminar is scheduled for November, to be facilitated by representatives from the Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (DRRMC). The activity will orient students, faculty, and staff on emergency response, including Bomb Threat Awareness.
During the meeting, Dr. Warren L. Calilung, School Director and overall incident commander of the ERT, reminds everyone to stay familiar with the alarm scheme and the โDuck, Cover, and Holdโ technique. Ground commanders are tasked to brief their respective faculty and staff about evacuation areas and safety procedures. The SPS Director also suggests that โall entrances and exits will be opened for the drill.โ
Ms. Busog further reminds teachers to โaccount the number of their students, to assist head count and provide immediate data.โ The meeting concludes with a collective commitment among ERT members, deans, and staff to ensure preparedness and safety across the UPHSL-IC community.
