On this day, February 4th, let's celebrate some amazing music milestones. Did you know that on this day in 1948, Alice Cooper, the legendary American singer and songwriter, was born? Known as the "Godfather of Shock Rock", Cooper has had a career spanning over 50 years, with hits like "School's Out", "No More Mr. Nice Guy", and "Poison".
Also, on this day in 1968, The Beatles arrived in India to study transcendental meditation with the Maharishi Mahesh Yogi. This trip had a significant influence on their music and spirituality, and led to the creation of some of their most iconic songs, including "Back in the U.S.S.R." and "While My Guitar Gently Weeps".
And, in 1983, singer-songwriter Karen Carpenter passed away at the age of 32. As one half of the duo The Carpenters, Karen's smooth vocals and gentle style captivated audiences, and her music remains popular to this day, with hits like "Close to You", "We've Only Just Begun", and "Rainy Days and Mondays".
