Van Gogh painted what only he could see.
Fischer played moves only he could understand.
To the world, obsession often looks like madness.
To the artist, it is simply devotion.
Every craft demands a kind of beautiful insanity,
the willingness to disappear into your work,
to repeat what others find pointless,
to keep chasing perfection long after everyone else has stopped watching.
So if I look crazy shadowboxing in the middle of a mall, maybe I am.
But every artist becomes a little crazy
when they love their craft enough.
