Romans 8:11 says: “The Spirit of God, who raised Jesus from the dead, lives in you. And just as God raised Christ Jesus from the dead, he will give life to your mortal bodies by this same Spirit living within you.” Paul is teaching that the Holy Spirit who powered Jesus’ resurrection is the same Spirit given to Christians now.
This verse means:
• You are not spiritually alone; God’s Spirit truly lives in you if you belong to Christ.
• That Spirit gives new life now: strength to obey God, grow in holiness, and overcome sin.
• Your weakness does not cancel God’s power; the “resurrection power” is already at work in your everyday life, even when you feel weak or discouraged.
A simple way to respond is to say: “Lord, thank You that the same Spirit who raised Jesus lives in me; help me trust and follow You in that power today.”
Hope for the future
Romans 8:11 also points to your future resurrection: the God who raised Jesus will also “give life to your mortal bodies” through His Spirit. This means death is not the end; just as Christ was raised, those who are in Him will be raised and share His resurrection life forever.
