This is a story of dreaming big, endurance, perseverance and fulfilling one’s life goals. An inspiring and encompassing “mananangot” turned to policeman in real life. Join me as we go back to the memory lane of the life story of Police Corporal Crisanto Cababat.
Police Corporal Crisanto Cababat has that easy attitude and possess a reassuring smile that anyone can approach. This manner has made him closer to the community that he serves and caters.
Growing up in Alcantara, Cebu with seven siblings, life was not a bed of roses for Police Corporal Cababat, at a very young age he knew that he has to work hard to achieve his ambition. Early in his life he knew that finishing college is grim.
His dreams began with being a “mananangot”. In order to send himself to high school he looked for a way to support and sustain his studies. At 13 years old he officially became a mananangot.
Daily at dawn he makes a round with his coconut trees, he harvested and collected three to four gallons of “tuba” every day. He then delivers this to the store in his neighborhood. With Php 60.00- 80.00 per day, his patience, hard work and the guidance from up above was instrumental to make him finish high school.
Despite the poverty that his family underwent this did not deter Police Corporal Cababat, instead it became his inspiration to finish his education. He sent himself through college by getting a scholarship program at the University of Cebu. He took up Bachelor of Science in Criminology and juggled various jobs.
He worked as a house boy in the city in order for him to have a place to stay. He also worked at Nuat Thai for five years as a massage Trainor to buy his books, provide for his allowance and projects.
In 2012, his dreams came true when he passed the licensure examination for Criminologists and finally in June 2014 he became a policeman.
Today, Police Corporal Cababat is happily married to Agnes and they are blessed with a beautiful little girl, Cris Angela.
He is best fitted in his assignment as the Police Community Relations Officer, his amiable attitude connects him well to the people in the barangays. The implementation of the PNP’s programs is properly enacted with his active visitation to the various barangays in Badian, Cebu.
An active advocate of drug symposiums against illegal drugs, he has painstakingly visited schools to disseminate the harmful effects of illegal drugs and its impact to the family and their social life. He has travelled to the mountainous barangays to organize pulong-pulongs which tackled the programs of the PNP, illegal drugs and concerns of the Ka-Barangays on peace and order.
Nothing is impossible for those who dream. Hard work, perseverance and prayers moved mountains for Police Corporal Cababat!
