💫 Tides Between Us 💫
The sun melted into the horizon, painting the sea in gold. Waves whispered against the sand, slow and rhythmic, as if echoing the unspoken tension between Gio and Mia.
They’d come to the island to “unplug” that’s what Gio said. But for Mia, it felt more like an awakening. The island had a pulse, and it matched the rhythm of her heart every time he looked at her.
Gio sat across from her on the beach, the firelight brushing against his skin. “You’re quiet,” he said, voice low and teasing.
Mia smiled faintly. “Just thinking.”
“About what?”
She met his eyes that familiar gaze that always made her forget what she meant to say. “About how everything here feels... slower. Like the world finally stopped spinning so fast.”
He smiled, leaning closer. “Or maybe it’s just us slowing down long enough to notice it.”
The sound of the waves filled the silence between them not awkward, but electric. Gio reached over, brushing a stray curl from her face. His fingers lingered, tracing her jaw, slow and deliberate.
Mia’s breath caught. The air felt thicker, warmer. The fire crackled. Somewhere in the distance, a guitar played, and the wind carried the faint scent of sea salt and jasmine.
Gio’s voice softened. “You always get lost in your head, don’t you?”
“Maybe,” she whispered. “But this time, I don’t want to come back.”
He smiled again that quiet, knowing smile before the distance between them disappeared. The world faded, leaving only the warmth of the fire, the taste of the ocean in the air, and the feeling that, somehow, this island had been waiting for them all along.
